how do you use leap as a bvc? Im new to this but im wondering how to use it in duels, do you just leap at them or something?

Leap in place.

When you leap, you don't leap at the enemy. You leap "in place" as MysticDragon wrote, meaning you wont move much. Making a long leap take time (because of the time spent in the air) and your enemy can dodge that quite easily.

The effect is that when you land, your enemy will be locked in a "hit recovery"-animation. Hopefully, giving you time to tele close and whirl while your enemy is unable to escape.

its mainly used to exploit chars with low fhr or hard to catch builds like 200 fcr sorcs.

To be more specific, your opponent will either be knocked back and send to double hit recovery (as in spending twice the amount of time recovering) or plain send them to double hit recovery.

This is useful because it allows easier name locking, unsummon locking, triwhirls and whatnot.

so even if for say, the sorc is half a screen away, if i leap in place, they'll be put in hit recovery?

It depends on how you determine "a screen away". Effectively, "a screen away", would mean that they are either a) a screen away from you (as in two halves of a screen) or b) a screen away from the edge of your screen. In case a), your leap would put them to recovery, in b), it wouldn't as it wouldn't reach them.

ofcourse leap is used repeatedly to force your oponent(s) into hit recovery, hopefully giveing u enought time to whirl at them once or more. A strategy i use (mostly against fast teleing casters) is do a long range leap, while your in the air you cannot be hit by any attacks and i use unsummon to namelock them as they fly by screen. when i land i tele to them and whirl usually killing in 1 or 2 hits. however if they tele too far away your namelock wont work ofcourse......and its not a good idea to use this constantly as a good caster will stay out of your screen while hitting u with long range attacks.....and then u land and...........so short leaps are safer

I strongly advise against this. leaping in place is far more effective and makes you less vulnerable.
