***Suggestions, please!***

I'm new into this game. I guess I'm a bit lazy to read the Walkthroughs and FAQs to find what I'm looking for. Anyway, got a few questions.

1. I just defeated Diablo with the Barbarian. Is there any "benefit" in playing the game all over again in Nightmare mode?

2. When I battled Diablo, I had 60% of hitting Diablo (that's the attack rating, right?) and I was at the level 27. Is that stat weak for a Barbarian to start playing the expansion? I just feel that my character hasn't accomplished enough to proceed to the expansion since many skills/abilities (level 30) were left not activated. What do you veterans think of that? Should I buckle up before going further?

3. How do you level up quickly? Which map in which act has the monsters that give most experiences?

4. Where do I found those gem shrines more often? Which map? I think I only found 3 or 4 throughout the whole game.

5. I found this useless item called Wirt's leg and can't seem to sell it. What do I do with it?

6. Is there any helms or armors that are socketed? Well, according to the gems, there should be. Well, I found none!

7. Does that Horadric cube make an item other than weapons socketed? If so, how? Cain said a sword (which sword?) and 6 gems would make a socketed long sword. It didn't work. Any idea?

8. What is the best way to increase the attack rating? Putting all 5 points in dexterity didn't solve the problem as it only increased the chance for big monsters by only 1 or 2%. I suppose I could use those amulets and rings; but I use their slots for resistances. Any suggestions?

are you playing 1.11b lod or 1.09 or earlier?

1. nm and hell monsters can drop higher lvl items

2. lvl 27 for normal non expansion sounds a bit low
if you plan on upgrading him to expansion, lvl up quite a bit before continuing on

5. wirts leg is used to make the secret cow lvl,
after killing diablo or baal if playing exp, use it in the cube with a tomb of tp in act1 town (you can remake the cow lvl as long as you dont kill the cow king, go back to stony and find wirts body to get another leg, tome can be bought from akara)

6. depends on how much mf you have, the more mf the less white/socketed items you will find

8. for a barb use taunt, it lowers enemys ar and def
rare rings with ar and res are nice

Welcome to the Forum. I have to say it's disappointing that there is so much information here and you can't even be bothered to read some of the most basic stuff.

People who write the guides here put in an awful lot of effort for players. It would be nice if that effort was appreciated rather than be ignored.

It's the version 1.11b. Just updated it about a week ago.

With the horadric cube, does it ever produce a sword with 3 sockets? Because even though the recipes I found online says 3 gems plus sword gives 3 socketed same sword, but all I get is 1 or 2 sockets when I try this myself. Is that recipe saying 'up to 3 sockets (randomly generated)' OR 'exactly 3 sockets'? I never got 3 or more sockets using that Horadric cube. Tried it over 100 times, still no luck.

I also checked those online F.A.Qs, but one thing really confuses me. Affix, prefix and the other was I think suffix. What the hell are they? I think I'm just not smart enough to get their meaning without explanation.

Any of you use Hamachi to play games? I tried to play this game Diablo II with my brother over Hamachi, it just couldn't connect to the created game. Is there any way I could play Diablo II over internet (virtual LAN) other than Hamachi? Because I remember using something called GGclient to play Starcraft, Warcraft III and Half-life online. Is there anything like that for Diablo II?

Ok, the reason why I'm asking all this stuff here when I can find it online is because I'm a lazy dumbass. I just don't bother reading them all through. All I need is a few specific questions answered. That's all.
