As the title says... I'm looking for the strongest base weapon to make BotD, but I wonder... Can weapons be ethereal (= +dmg) and superior (= +dmg) at the same time?

Yes, for example :

Superior Berserker Axe
6 Sockets
15% Enhanced Damage
15% Increased Durability
Ethereal

or

Superior War Pike
6 Sockets
15% Enhanced Damage
+3 to Attack Rating
Ethereal

The "strongest" base weapon depends if you need one or two handed.
One handed would definitely be berserker axe.
2 handed might be either an elite polearm/spear or thundermaul, I personally don't have characters that use a 2-hand botd so I'm not sure what's the best one.

Remember not to ever make botd in a non-eth weapon (yes some people do it).

An easy question with complicated answers, why not just say "Yes"?

He was also answering the bolded part. And yes they can be.

Because they're explaining and qualifying their answers...

(And because 'yes' isn't ten characters long.)

Also, you have to factor in speed. Just because something has the absolute highest damage doesn't mean it's going to provide the highest damage per second, or be the most beneficial to your character. I'd suggest looking at the weapon damage calculator on the front page of this site and comparing the things listed there. Also, a little peek by the Statistics forum could help out as well.

My suggestion for a one-handed would be an eth berserker axe - and an eth thunder maul for two-handed.

Because a stupid answer like that will result in more questions.

This is not a stupid answer, it is the answer to the original question.

Anticipating future questions which might or might not be asked can be a waste of time as well, although I admit that I tend to answer them as well :azn: .

Regarding the question what the best BotD Weapon is:

*BEEP* ERROR ! Not enough information.

But that question has not been asked anyway.

Personally I think people should answer with however much information they please, as long as the answer to the original question is easy to find. If I had to start making one word replies, I think I'd pull my hair out.

I don't see any harm in giving someone MORE information than they asked for, provided the answer to the question is up front. :wink3:

Yes, it will cause no harm (I haven't said that it will BTW) and when it's obvious which other information is needed, it makes sense to give more information. However, which is the best BotD weapon depends on too many unknown factors, like speed, reqs, character builds, PvP/PvM etc. Providing answers to all combinations is definitely a waste of time.

Also to add: phase blades do not come in ethereal form, so that's the only weapon asaik that can't spawn eth and sup.
