as the topic says, why does everyone want +3maximum damage charms, why are they considered so godly?

First thing to notice : only +3 Max +xx AR small charms are considered worth something, especially if they have a nice second mod (life, strength, dex, FHR...)
Well, +3 Max 20 AR is the maximum you can get on a SC, so from this point of view, there's no way to get a better Max damage bonus on a SC. Grand charms can have up to +10 Max damage, but their second mod is more limited, for example life is limited to 45, whereas 3 SC's can give up to 60 life.
Don't forget that these +3 Max damage are added to your base weapon damage. So, on top of that you'll have to add the %ED on your weapon/gear, then apply the %ED bonuses from the skills and the %ED from the auras, etc...
In the end, this tiny +3 Max damage can grant you a lot of bonus damage, especially if you're wearing several of these charms .

I think people use them more for the AR and the Life than they do for the +3 Max. Generally, the ones people go for are the 3/20/20s, which means +3 Max, +20 AR, +20 Life.

also i like damage/ar/str small charms. they boost damage a lot. and allow you to equip heavier items and save stat points for dex and vit.

The thing is, the most Str you can get on a small charm is +2, so that saves you 2 points for Vitality, which will give you at most +8 life (if you're a Barb). You're much better off with +Life instead of +Strength- even if you have to divert some points away from Vitality, you'll still end up with the exact same amount of strength and more life.

yes life bonus is lesser than the vit charms, i meant they're also useful and worth to keep in inventory if you can't find with +life mod ones.
as for me, i am more lucky at finding dmg/ar/str charms, but i've only one dmg/ar/life charm. :)

Maybe I can explain better. You see, when you have the +3 maximum damage mod on a charm, it add that damage to your weapon damage. For example, let's say you are a Paladin and you have a short sword that does 6-10 damage. Not much right? Now lets say you level up a bit and keep putting points into Might until it hit +100% enhanced damage, which essentially doubles your possible damage output. So now instead of 6-10, you do 12-20. Now if you have a +3 to max damage small charm, the base 6-10 turns into a new base of 6-13, and the new enhanced damage from Might is now 12-26. See the difference?
So if you have 10 +3 charms, it adds 30 damage. When you have a big new bad sword and you have Fanaticism AND Zeal damage bonus, that +30 max damage can add more than 300 damage on top of whatever the sword (and the swords enhanced damage from those skills) is already doing. Filling your inventory with these charms could be the difference of a thousand damage in some situations.
