question about sword mercs

can mercs use swords?? like a phase blade? i made a last wish fase blade for my fishymancer and dont know what mercs can use, i thought u can use them for the act 5 mercs (barbarians) but im not sure. do they all use polearms/collusus vouges?? help me out please thanks

Act 3 mercs can use shields swords helmets and armor.

Act 5 mercs use swords as well, including phase blades. Act 2 mercs use polearms and spears.

Act 3 mercs carry swords, but I gather they only actually use them about 5% of the time!

Yeah, a powerful sword on an act 3 merc would be a complete waste. If you want one that will actually use it, you'll need an act five merc.
