i deleted my MFer strafer because of bad skill/stat allocation, and started to build a new strafer and HC this time.

i'm wondering the unique/set drops for HC and SC chars?
is this has any effect on drops? i read most (maybe all) mf and item generation guides on diabloii.net and some other sites. none of them confirm my thought.
there's a great difference for drops when playing my HC chars (strafer 0-MF, zealot 84-MF). maybe this is just my good luck. when playing my HC chars, i find more unique/set, and more and higher runes generally.

i also have a fishymancer SC-lvl75 and it has 300-400 MF, kills pretty fast but couldn't find more than 2-3 uniques and a few set items until hell act2. and still couldn't find a single Shael! :sad2:

this is interesting i guess. also i'm thinking, if i complete 5-6 quests and activate 5-6 waypoints without saving the game, this give me more unique/set drops. but if i save and exit after every 1-2 quests and waypoints, the number of unique/set drops decrease.
is this true? or am i babbling?

i was trying to reach NM Meph for farming, found a HoZ (http://img204.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hozxw5.jpg), i didn't save and exit, i continued and found unique bill, set sharkskin gloves (orphan's), set ring, unique bone shield and 2-3 more uniques i can't remember now, and a lot of flawless gems and Shaels, Amns, Sol and lots of low runes, all in Flayer Jungle and Lower Kurast (NM).

HC or SC has no effect on the amount of unqiues you find.

But yeah, luck ownes MF for a little while. If you run a lot it's the other way around.

even with a vast amount of runs, luck still owns MF in a way. I have played since LOD hit the shelves, and to this day I have only found 3 noneth HoZ and one eth. And I have found three gris caddies and four gris helms, which are supposed to be much much rarer.

I know people who have found four HoZ, but only one occy... And I have found 5 BK rings on pindle, but no wisp or natures. Luck is always a factor. MF helps luck a bit, but not enough to "cancel out" bad luck with regards to what base items drop. Never found a CoA, but found at least six Templar's Mights. And they have roughly the same drop frequency in theory.

One experience I have had with my gf barb is that one week I found 2 areats on the same day, another day 2 mara's and both were within short time. I had the same amount of mf all the time but anyway I think its luck.

It won't happen in a long run:grin:That's precisely what I was about to say :badteeth: ! Btw, I love those screenshots with unid items on the ground, always makes my heart bump just as if I found them myself  !

well, i think mf does matter, but luck is also important i guess.

last week, my firend finished a pure mfer with around 1000mf and i was still mfing with my fireball sorc (roughly 320mf)
on that day, i guess i was pretty lucky, i find a pefect ss, 2 shako, a gaze, ailbaba, and some other stuff.
while he got tal ammy, ailbaba, and a some other stuff.
i did spend about twice as long as he did mfing, but still, i don't normally get that many drops in a day.
but i think if we spend the same time mfing and over a period of a week, i think he would find way more good stuff than i would.

My best drops were with 0 mf...

Death's Fathom on matron's den with frenzy babo geared for ubers
Death's Web on crystalline passage with fireball soso geared for 7 frames cast
Arachnid's Mesh from mephi with ww babo geared for keyruns (was just paying mephi a visit.. lol)
Mara's 30% from hell travincal with frenzy goldfinder babo

Why does 0% mf work better than 500% mf? Because double killing speed = twice as many monsters killed in the same time = effectively increase mf 100%, with no diminuishing returns. Triple killing speed = increase mf 200%, etc.

i do same thing when i see screenshots

for some builds (most of melee and ranger builds imo) killing speed works better than the MF, each extra damage point increases killing speed and works like MF with no diminishing returns.
sorceresses and necros can equip MF gear and can kill pretty fast, but i can't play with them well. from now, i'll build non-MF MFer chars! ...lots of damage... lots of drops. full area butchering!

 i find my MFing style lately

I did a pit run with my necromancer yesterday (0 magic find) and found Bonehew, Steel Pillar and Flamebellow and also a Lum rune. All that in just one run.
