ive seen this build done before, but it doesnt seem too popular. maybe because armageddon really is a pain to use? ive never used it before.
skills:
20 armageddon
20 fire claws
20 molton boulder
20 volcano
5 lycanthropy (for early playing)
bear, wolf, feral rage, maul, shockwave, arctic blast, cyclone armor, tornado, twister, hurricane, firestorm, fissure, oak sage
the problem with this build is it doesnt give a lot of options for non-fire damage unless you work it in on your weapon. thus, gear is pretty confusing for me to pick because a typical "fire claws" weapon is a 6 socket phase blade.
possible weapons:
6 socket phase blade combos:
4 shael, eth, fire facet gives 6 frames
5 shael, eth OR fire facet gives 5 frames
4 shael, 2 15% ias/some other mod jewels gives 4 frames
2 shael, 20 OIAS (gloves or highlords), 4 piece combo of eths and fire facets gives 7 frames
i'll say straight up that i hate phase blades because i hate the requirements. ive never used a phase blade weapon on any character unless it has a -requirement jewel in it.
6 socket war spikes:
3 shael, 3 ias jewels gives 5 frames
2 shael, 3 ias jewels, eth OR fire facet gives 6 frames
3 shael, 45 OIAS (treachery), 3 piece combo of eth and fire facets gives 7 frames
none of the previous weapons offer much for physical damage, although crushing blow is obviously available from off-weapon sources.
other weapons:
beast war spike gives 8 frames, berserker with 35 OIAS gives 8 frames
hoj phase with 20 OIAS gives 7 frames
2 handers:
3 shael tombreaver with 50 OIAS gives 5 frames, 6 without any OIAS
shaeled ribcracker with 50 OIAS gives 7 frames
6 shael champion axe gives 4 frames
4 shael champion axe with 10 OIAS gives 5 frames
a two-handed weapon would of course preclude the use of a stormshield or spirit shield.
there is a lot of choice for armor also:
treachery for reaching high OIAS breakpoints, fade, and venom
duress for crushing blow, some resists, hit recovery, and minor cold damage
fortitude for some resists and physical damage if using a weapon that has decent damage such as ribcracker, tombreaver, hoj.
enigma for skills, saving on strength, and footspeed
chains for resists, skills, and some strength
assuming a druid torch, +2 rare, +2 body armor, +2 jalals, +2 spirit shield, thats +11 to all skills and +13 to shapeshifting.
damages:
5950-6450 fire claws
5000-5700 armageddon
using armageddon makes HoJ appealing since it has the resist cut. but, HoJ phase has outrageous dex, and doesnt swing all that fast. there are lower stat faster weapons that privilege the fireclaws attack. the freeze and ignore defense could be nice though.
assuming druid torch, highlords, +2 jalals, thats +6 to all and +8 shapeshifting
damages:
3800-4450 armageddon
4400-4700 fire claws
im looking for some feedback about where i can get non-fire damage and what gear offers the best attributes for a fireclaws/armageddon setup.
