Hello, this is only my 3rd time building an assassin and my first time at a PvM oriented one. I looked through all the guides in the forums and I've decided on the Nat's set based Phoenix Striker. I just have a few questions:

1.) Is this guide still the recommended way to go? Are there any better ways (skill-wise) to build the Phoenix Striker? In terms of equipment, I've always wanted to utilize the Nat's set and seeing how I have one on hand I want to stay with it.

2.) According to the guide, I'll have plenty of skill points left to use, does anyone have any suggestions on what has worked best for them? I tend to play very offensively and I'm always looking for more dmg output over pure defensive skills.

3.) I know the Phoenix Striker does more dmg as the skill level is higher, thus, would it be safe to assume that having torch + anni + 7 martial arts gcs (I leave 2x4 spaces for items) would be the best setup. Keeping in mind I can get enough life leech, DR, and res from the rest of my gear. Or is the dmg added from the martial arts gcs negligible enough that having charms that add life/ar/res more useful?

4.) Merc choice. I'm thinking Act 2 merc with Holy Freeze using rockstopper, shaftstop and reapers toll. However, I actually really want to use an Act 3 merc and I've come to the conclusion that the Cold based would work the best. I would equip him with nightwings/shako, vipermagi, spirit sword, spirit shield/lidless. Has anyone tried this? What are your experiences and recommendations.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

1) Nobody's written a replacement because skygoneblue covers all the bases.

2) 20 Phoneix/FoF/CoT with 1 in all the 1-pointers is my base. From there, I tend to scatter points between my shadow of choice, Claw Mastery, and Death Sentry.

3) With MB and CoS, low life isn't really an issue. I'd go for damage as long as you can keep yourself alive. The number of charms you are adding might be a li'l overkill.

4) Both work. I prefer the A2 because it is a better tank, and because it leaves more bodies for CE from Death Sentry. Actually, Vamp Gaze, Treachery, and Obedience works pretty slick. Bottom line, there are a lot of ways to slice this piece of bread.
