View Full Version : LV 30 LLD kicker

needed a quick + cheap yet effective character that was not a bonemancer.
I saw an Lv18 assasin, and she was quite lovely. So I thought I make variant of that in Lv30.
filling the while inventory with 15 lifers, she wil be cheaper to make too!!
anyway, I was thinking double claw, and to get more dmg I will use 2 shadow skill + swiftness blatetalon, shael shaledd to give me maximum D talon frame without BoS.
this would be...7 frame kick with 3 follow up kicks.
To improve kick dmg, I will use 2 martial skills glove with hopefully some stats.
Now, only problem with whether I should go dual claw or claw + shield.
I mean, I can probably go for some really cheapish version of kick/trapper, using 1 pt MB and 1pt WoF, with help of secondary claw.
But blockage is expected at around 50 percent only.
wheras with shield, I'd have less of things I desire, but more blocks.
Res is out of question, as I will be using more fade/ only real question is use of dual claw or not.
suggestions?
I am all for ears!:listen:

Here is the problem with claw block. When you run or walk around, it drops to 0. So, your block will only be useful when you are kicking someone. Against chargers or when chasing casters, it provides no defense at all.
But there is good news! Between the armor Twitchthrow and the lowish amount of dex needed for max block on a LLDer, you can have two setups, one with max shield block and one with claw block and, say resists (ie. one anti-melee and one anti-caster). If you team duel, you'll probobly want to max the two setups, going for resists and max block. That could be a challange to get right.
Example setups:
Vs. Melee
PCrown
Angelic Ammy
Angelic Rings
String
Claw/Whistans
Spirit Shroud
Rare War Boots (ideally with some nice stats/res/frw on them)
+2 MA gloves (if you're dead set on these)
This setup gives you CBF, a good kick speed with your nice claw, good AR from angelics, the DR from string and other general goodness. You'll have max block as well.
Vs. Casters:
PCrown
+1 Sin Ammy/+2 Shadow/+2 MA with nice mods
Resist/Stat rings (maybe look for FCR, its possible to get the 65 BP for MB)
String or FCR belt
Claw/Rhyme Bone Shield
Vipermagi
Rare Boots
+2 MA Gloves (again, not sure these are the best choice)
You don't want to fade against casters, the BoS run speed will be very important. Viper helps you stack resists, so does Rhyme. You still have CBF in this setup which is important. With max res and BoS, you can run casters down enough to dflight or trap them.
Keep in mind these are just the setups I used, there may be better/more refined ones outthere

thanks a lot!
btw, is there a lot of difference in using spirit shroud /whistan and viper/rhyme?
since you get extra res + fcr, I like viper, but I don;t know how useful shroud is other than its cbf mod.

mine uses:
shaeld pcrown
upped ruby twitch
rhyme grim
2ma/10ias gloves
angelics
String
rare warboots
1sin/40ias bt (20ias+shael)
if you have 70ias and blade talons you're better off using fade since you'll still kick as fast as possible (forget the actal fpa 7 i think). you can use dflight to catch runners. i stash another claw for vs smiters (as long as they dont charge) and casters that dont use cold.
i tried shroud+whitstan and prefer rhyme+twitch personally. the only reason i have an upped twitch is becuase i had it on hand. 2x +2 shadow claws on switch for prebuff. if these had ias they would be the ideal caster set up since the +shadow would give greater claw block rate. i was using bloodfists untill i got a pair of 2ma/10ias gloves and they worked great. if you can get to lvl 24 dtalon for the 5th kick do so, but if you cant save some points and just have 18 in since putting more in that wouldnt help the number of kicks just increases the mana cost without helping damage much. upped gtoes are good starter boots but a good pair of 30frw/10fhr/res warboots are better, imo.
i know i repeated some of what happy said.
My kicker's weapon switch consists of twox +2shadow disc blade talons. One is socketed with cold resist jewels, while the other is socketed with lightning resist jewels. I swap my shield for the appropriate blade talon when necessary.
Are you making a vs all, vs melee, or a vs caster kicker?

CDM// nicely explained as usual!
getting that boots is always hard :)
krajee//I will go for vs melee. Casters I don't see as a problem due to high fade and MDR. Exception is certain builds like Lv30 fire druids. Firestorms actuallly hurt bad....
Of course, I will have gear switch for random PKers who think LLD means anyone under Lv90..
quick question tho.
Things lke firestorm, who dmgs over each frame, how does clawblock work on these? Does it roll for each frame, or it rolls once and that result sticks to it for rest of same attack (provided you don't move)?
Because blade fury and its CB and other mods were rolled once when I used it in PvM, not rollig everytime it hit, so I am wonderingabout WB

Weapon Block has a lovely attitude to ground fire. It ignores it and you take damage as normal, block notwithstanding. Hold on... how many Firestorm druids are there at level 30? I would worry about fissure, which incidentally can be blocked.

For a vs melee build, I would definately go for slvl24 dragon talon. I'd also stash some upped goblin toes. I prefer using angelic ring + ammy along with a rare ring - something like this (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v671/krajee/lld/kickering.jpg). I have several of those types of rings - some with resists, dr, and mdr and I swap out when necessary. I think I get around 9000 ar with one angelic ring and ~10600 with two, so it's a bit overkill.
A great stash switch for smiters would be a 'strength' range 5 weapon with 3sol helm and 4 sol armor, though some would consider sol stacking bad mannered.

i was just wondering last night what i should use vs smiters. would it be better to go with the stength range 5 weapon or dual claw for some blocking action. smite is claw block, blockable right?

Gah, after all that I forgot to mention pub setup. Fortunately CDM got it. Imo these are the best armor shield combos for particular situations:
Vs. Melee: Shroud/Whistans
Vs. Caster: Viper/Rhyme
Vs. All (pub): Twitch/Rhyme
I really like the shroud/whistans combo against melee, I just seem to do better with it. Twitch/Rhyme doesnt have the res of the anti-caster setup, or the MDR, but nice block and resist all the same.
For weapon switch I have a couple options. My favorite at the moment is:
Malice Greater Talons / +2 Shadow Greater Talons
I use this for hit and run OW against people, and for a minor buff to my skills. If I don't want the OW available, I use another +2 shadow claw for better venom, fade, etc.
The last switch that can be really nice to have is a teleport staff. Dueling a hammerdin or necro without one can be really hard, especially a necro who will prison you and spear, preventing escape by dflight (its too slow, teleport is not).

is there a way to make dflight faster? does it respond to ias (like traps), fcr (like mb), or is it fixed (like blade fury)? i noticed that it's awfully slow and it eats mana. i still like keeping my switch for something other than a tele staff.
It's slow, nothing to speed it up.

It's fixed at 23 frames, nothing you can do to speed it up :(.
Happy; Greater talons? What level was your sin?

Errrr, that'd be bladed talons, I've been spending a bit too much time hanging out with the wwsins...
It's fixed at 23 frames, nothing you can do to speed it up :(.Isn't it 24 frames?
Honestly, does it matter? (23 is what I remember from jrichard's info, but I don't care enough to look it up. ;))
