View Full Version : Double claw Dragon Claw assassin playable?
Hey guys im wondering if an assassin using two claws Such as bartics, or two runewords one,(Im thinking chaos and fury) Would it be playable with phenoix strike and dragon claw in hell?
Sure, without phoenix strike it is possible too. Bartucs/Jade's would be enough for normal meleeing (just pack on some crushing blow/DS) and chaos/firelizards could be used for physical immunes. Death Sentry would make your life a lot easier of course, but even without it, it's still possible. Just don't expect to start leading 8 player Baal games with it.
I'm going to test out wether a TS/DT(ail) Assasin will be viable in 8player Hell.

claw mastery to increase dragonclaw dmg
venom increase damage
weapon block (imo a must when c/c) 60% chance to block nething in pvp aswell
equip
2 bartuc (upgraded 4 dmg?)
either fort or guardian damage or increased block speed ( pvm/pvp?)
cats eye ammy
upgraded gorerider
trang golves 25% to psn dmg

I made a pure dragon claw sin once, You get massive ar and attack pretty quick. In my opinion tho don't waste your time that was one of the worst chars I've ever made.

this wouldnt be any where a mass killer, it would be slow and would require much work before you are safe to start attacking, you would have very little ability to tank,
do you like a challegne?

Solo or in a group? Its viable solo, but a little rough, Act2 merc with might or holyfreeze and reaper's troll should give you enough time to counteract all that comes your way. I'm remaking my dtailer sometime soon. I like it when the damage number is about 50k max.

Probably mainly in group with around 4-8 players.

i would strongly urge both of you to max death sentry.
i'd also switch out the trangs for 'dracs. the lifetap will do a LOT to help keep you alive. or crafted crushing blow gloves.
a d-claw'sin IS a hell viable build. you will be able to solo hell easily (with a pair or ele-damage claws for PI's). however, imho: you will feel it start to break down at ~3players, fall apart at 6 and be in tatters by 8/player games. even kick/trap'sins, arguably one of the most powerful pvm builds around, can't claim to be true "8/player godz" in the hammerdin sense of the term(although they are better than most)
my own experience with d-claw 'sins was very similar to ThatWasShockin's: kinda fun, but ultimatly slooooow compared to other assassin builds.

hmm well have fun, check back in! i want your observations whats good and whats not! thats an order
pitty this thread lost posts, there was some good discussion going on
that build was my first matriarch. it was not easy but it was alot of fun.
1) get a shadow master, she will lay some traps and throw around mindblasts. summon her away from the melee and she will have a better chance of laying traps; summon her in the middle of battle and she will just use martial arts. get her to level 17, where she will spawn will a full set of rare equipment.
2) cut back on cloak of shadows. i was fine with 1 point - a lvl 20 dragon claw is a ton of AR, you don't need to be reducing defense further. in addition, once you cast CoS, you cannot recast it until your originial one runs out.
3) more than 1 point in fade/BoS, whichever you are going for. essentially if you are using jade talon, go BoS, if not, you may need fade. a few points plus some +skills, check the charts - diminishing returns kicks in around lvl 10.
4) you dont need to max both claw mastery and dragon claw. you don't need that much AR. shadow master is worth the points. mindblast is worth a few points too, so you can spam a few, jump in the fray, then jump out and repeat.
5) strike a balance between leech and crushing blow.
6) dont get surrounded. assassins have good hit recovery to take on a few enemies toe to toe, but if you're surrounded you're toast.
7) know that you're not one of the top 10 damage-dealing builds, and play that way. strategically, carefully. CoS and mindblast combine for the best crowd control in the game, pair it with holy freeze merc. i actually went with defiance to boost defense, cuz you won't get defense anywhere else.
8) arcing charms and steel charms > skillers.
i went with tal's helm, duress, and highlords. craft some 20IAS/10 CB gloves. play smart.

if we are going into more specifics
i will b using eth bartucs uped to runic talons and zoded
, a giant skull helm with 2x 15 ias 40ed jewls
uped gorerider
cats eye ammy
ravinfrost and carrionwind rings
ik belt
and typicaly iv been using my fort armor with trang gloves
my old sin for this build wasdoing a good 4k dmg per claw pi's were not giving me any problems if neccessary i can carry my low lw and use with dtalon until life tap casts then switch back to claws
im looking to use this build with up to around 3 other players in the game im in if we are in hell possably doing key runs, lvling, or hlping with quests or rush my use of cos is for my defence bonous as well as a party skill as it decreases the defence of the monsters for others as well as myself a low cos is beter for pvm but in pvp just pop back into town and the duration ends
my first matriarc was basical a hybread of the warrior monk and mageslayer build i like them both so i tried to combine them. the reason i actualy seam to prefer the dragon claw over dragon talon is actualy a time issue the dragon claw atacks only twice where a simmialar dragon talon will attack 6 times (my martial shold b around lvl 30) iv moastly been more of a fan of doing things myself its why i typicaly never keep a merc and dnt like to play summon builds like the druid and necro im currently working on remaking this sin as i messed up again on her at low lvls
