Weapon Question for Act 2 Merc...

at this moment I am using a meatscraper for my merc...but I just found a Master's Collosus Voulge of Lightning...like 42-400 dmg...if I socket it and throw some amns in there would it be a decent upgrade for my merc?...just curious...thanks...

I would keep the Meatscraper.

If it's about ladder, better find an ethereal, nonmagical colossus voulge, let Larzuk add sockets and then make Insight out of it. Another option would be Obecience in an ethereal 5 socket thresher (socketed by Larzuk as well). These weapons will be far, far better and you don't need expensive or rare runes for these runewords. Get a Crown of Thieves or Tal's mask for life leech and when your merc is L83, switch to Andariel's Visage, socketed with Ral.

And if it's not ladder, and you can't/won't install the RWM, then you could search for a 5s eth Lance and put AmnElIthTirSol in it, and have an excellent merc weapon usable from lvl 25 and probably to act 2 hell.

As Krischan said, eth colossus voulge is a very good insight choice, but really, any elite polearm with 4s WILL make a good insight. I've made insights of non-eth cryptic axe, eth partizan, eth battle scythe and more.

Always pick up rare/unique polearms and check for etherealness and good ED.
