View Full Version : tricky PK - beware
my 18 level pala was killed by lvl 25 skelemancer
i was shocked, you know, his level was not very high, yet he was able to slaughter the entire team (4 or 5 men) in 1 second
how did it happen? some minutes ago PK sorc entered game, fortunately she wasnt able to kill anyone and disconnected (now i know it was a part of the trick), after some time skellemacner went hostile and used teleport (charges) to kill everyone with his enchanted skellies, i was too slow to exit the game in time
dirty trick, isnt it? ;)
That's actually pretty creative! I hope you didn't lose any good items. If not, you could find some humor in it, eh?
I always thought that items with teleport charges had lvl req of 48, meaning 25 lvl necro woulnt be able to use it. Nice trick tho.
yeah,i didnt lose anything valuable and wasnt angry at all, it was very creative
ill be more cautious in future

Any Lvl 45 sorcs and above entering a HC game should be viewed with the utmost suspicion,
along with everyone else.

You can put skillers on at level 42.
Edit: That's when I'd start to be very afraid.

Sorry Guys- I gotta do it. . .:soapbox:
I know I'm not alone when I say that I don't much appreciate PK'ers in Hardcore (or SC either). There's absolutely no reason for it. If you want to duel- there's ways to go about it without attacking the unsuspecting or innocent. If I want to duel- like I sometimes do. . .I'll go looking for it. I've been lucky enough to avoid the PK twerps (knock on wood) for now- but I know if I play long enough I'm gonna have to face one (or more) some day. I hope I'm ready when the situation arises, but I know I probably won't be and I'll lose time and effort I can't get back so that some 17 year old dumba$$ can have a chuckle.
Same with dupers, hacks, & guys that rush characters into hell and ask how to spend their points and what equipment they should have. You know- guys that have Torches, Annis, and Infinity mercs. . .but don't know how to build a basic hammerdin(the cheesiest character there is).
Man, I hate to sound bitter, but Jeez- when does it end. Can't we all just PLAY THE GAME without all the BS?
Sorry for the rant ya'll.
At least you got that out wrongdayj.
I pretty much agree. But it will only end when we all move on from D2 and start playing a new game. Hopefully that game will be D3.

I miss killing people.
Various tricks with necromancers:
Mercinaries take a half pvp penalty instead of 1/8th like other melee. This means they innately hit like trucks. The fact that if he is 29 ish that he also has a ethereal lance in there with atleast 400 damage and some+crit also boosts the truck factor.
Iron golems made out of ethereal items (such as hellslayer, etc) also hit like trucks and might I add, at half penalty instead of 1/8th.
Throw out amp damage. The penalty is now gone and both of these things will smack you for no penalty at all. This means you are going to die.
At 29 it can use a teleport staff to land right ontop of you after casting amp, which means his mercinary gets 3 hits (jab attack) and his golem gets one...due to the fact they are server side and do not lag, they will probably hit you before you realize he teleported. Your character will not survive this. Unless you are 60+ es/tk sorc or a very beefy barb (or druid, as they cant be one shotted) this will demolish you. If you are hit by a pk (legitimate) you chances are haven't been here that long and you will not have the gear to survive the attack.
I agree about the hacks etc. But as for PKing in HC, its part of the reason I started playing HC, not because I wanted to PK people but because it added another level of, i guess, thrill to the game. Theres already that nervousness because you only live once, and then the threat of pk's and having to be cautious just makes it even more exciting.

I guess I just have a different definition of what exciting is.
I will have to learn to live with the fact that not everyone plays this game for the same reasons I do.
I'm still gonna be supremely miffed if I get PK'd, though.

Don't play much now, but when I do, like you, if I feel like I want to duel, I'll go looking for a duel. However, if I feel like I want to PK, then I"ll go do that.
You don't understand it, and you probably never will (unless you open your mind to it), but dueling and PK'ing truly are two different things and two different aspects to the game and two different ways to enjoy the game.
As for me, I'm 22 years old now. 5 years ago when I was 17 I was 100% Anti-PK and one of the most active PKK's on bnet. I was one of the people cleaning up your public games for you so you could "enjoy" the game your way.
Spin on that one for a bit
WrongdayJ

I'm spinning alright. . .Let me see if I understand you correctly:
So I have to be more open minded and accept that someone else's destruction of my gameplay for no reason other than their own jollies is a form of fun and that it should be accepted?
Hmm.
I appreciate that you (at one time at least) engaged in moderately noble activities (mainly PKKing). But all that does is fire up the PK thing even more (as you know).
PKing in any form sucks and those who do it to the innocent and unsuspecting suck. Now that's just my opinion, and I realize that isn't worth much. And if that comment offends you, then sorry bro- that's just the way I feel. Just like you probably feel the same way towards all of us the don't accept your way of thinking about this game.
But that's I guess what makes this game fun for everyone. There's a little something (no matter how irritating) for everyone.
WrongDayJ, I'm not sure how long you've been here, but this has been done a thousand times before. You'll generally find that people here are either PKers themselves (legit ones of course, meaning no maphack, tppk, any of that crap), ex-pkers or pretty accepting of legit pks.
I don't want to get into this all, since I don't even play this game anymore, but basically if someone legitimately pks you, you did something wrong. 10 second delay through any waypoint is far more than enough time to tp or quit. If you're hanging out by the town entrance, you need to be careful, and should see it coming from a mile away, and if you decide to keep playing in an obscure area you'd be surprised how easy it can be to find people in such places. (many people will forget they have a tp up which is a dead giveaway, or will leave trails of items/dead monsters to where they are, to name a few).
ive lost some chars vs legit PK and dont cry because of that, accept it as a part of the game
be a man, dont cry
TPPK (+hacks) on the other hand is completely unfair and should be removed, hate those kids ;)

Hmm. Point taken. Perhaps my message did seem kind of whiney. The topic just kinda struck a nerve. Apologies all around.
I do (and will continue to) watch my back and hope someone, heck maybe even one of the myriad of nice folks on this Forum, doesn't PK me.
not offended at all.
Just wanted to make the point that although you may see pk'ing as a "childish" activity, the age of an individual really doesn't have much to do with it. Ergo my point of PKK'ing/nobility when I was younger.

10 second delay through any waypoint is far more than enough time to tp or quit.
That is all, that needs to be said about legit PKs. If you hear the hostile sound, 10 seconds is enough, to find a safe space, check the party screen, make a guess on your chances and either TP out or go for the fight. Sure sometimes it is annoying, if you are trying to level, but legit PKs simply belong to HC for added difficulty.
I could start to rant about TPPKs, but this has ben done often enough and apart from themselves no one likes them.
Its funny because I am making a Zon that was supposed to be a tppker with multi and I was going to rant on about how wrongdayj is a faggot pussy whiner who should learn to play the game until I got tppked. Good thing I didn't post isn't it?
