The Charged Orber
This is my first attempt at a guide so be patient with me please. This sorc is all about the single mf runs a person does. That said in a 8 player baal game you'll notice your damage isn't great but its the countless mf runs you make by yourself that make up for this. The premise of this sorc is to cast FO then spam charged bolt then back to FO. I've played a chain lightning/FO sorc and i feel its boss killing power was a little lacking. This sorc is imho better for the act bosses and still has the crowd control of the CL/FO sorc. Now for what really matters. In my personal experience the rarest duel immune is the cold/lightning ive seen only lord de sies and random uniques with these immunities so i feel immunes will be no problem

Str-enough for the spirit monarch around 110 if you have a perfect torch and anni and don't use CoH or War travelers

Spirit runeword sword, +2 to all skills, fcr, vita, mana, and other goodies

Shield:
Spirit runeword monarch, high str req. but the same benefits as the sword and shield of choice for me
Lidless wall grim shield, +1 to all skills, increase maximum mana 10%, 20% fcr, and 10 energy not to shabby
Visceratuant, 1 sorc skill levels and 30% increased block chance and block speed not that great but better than nothing
Armor:
Chains of honor runeword, +2 to all skills, +65% res, 8% damage reduction, and 25 mf make this the armor of choice for most sorcs
Skin of the Viper magi, +1 to all skills and resistance is about all its got going for it
Tal rasha's armor, only if using the set
Enigma runeword, only use this if you absolutely need the extra strength as its main benifit is lost on a sorc, but it does have good mf
Gloves:only three choices here really order of most recommended
Magefist, 20 fcr, and regenerate mana 25% are the only two things we will use from these gloves, the +1 to fire skills is kind of lost on us
Trang oul's claws, 20 fcr and cold res are the only things we'll need but res will be mostly taken care of by the other items
Frostburn, only good for increase mana 40% imo it will keep us casting longer
Boots:really only one stand out pair of boots
War traveler, 10 vita, 10 str, mf, 25% frw its all good
Rare tri-res boots, use these if u have gas in your resistances
Helms:
Harlequin crest, +2 to all skills, life and mana, even some extra stat points
Tal rasha's mask, recommended if using the whole set as by its self its more of a melee helm
Rare sorc circlet, +2 to skills, life, fcr, mf, and str are the mods to look for
Belt:
Arachnid mesh: +1 to all skills, increase max mana 10%, and 20 fcr make this the casters belt of choice
Tal rasha's belt, not to bad by itself if you dont have an arachnid better with the other set items
Rings:
Stone of Jordan, +1 to all skills, increase max mana 25%, and +20 mana make this a pretty sought after ring
Bul Kathos' wedding band, +1 to all skills and life/char level is what make this ring almost as good for the caster as a SoJ
Rare rings, they need str, mana, life, or fcr to bee worth your while
Amulet:
Tal rasha's amulet, +2 to sorc skill levels, 33 light res, mana and health this is my amulet of choice with or without the other set items
Mara's Kaleidoscope, +2 to all skills, 5 all attributes, and 20-30 to all res make this a universal amulet
Rare amulet, you're looking for +2 to sorc skill levels, life, mana, str, or fcr with one of these
Item switch: I don't have these but want pretty bad
Call to arms runeword, +2-6 to battle command +1-6 to battle orders means you can buff life and mana
A second spirit monarch for the extra skills when bo'ing
Merc:
Act 2 nighmare defensive merc because holy freeze slows even cold immune monsters
Merc Equipment:
Weapon:
Infinity runeword, the conviction aura it gives can break immunities, but it will mostly be used to lower light res because cold res will already be lowered by cold mastery, if you can please get one that isn't in a colossus voulge because the attack speed is really slow, i prefer threshers or giant threshers myself
Helm:
Andy's visage, its an all around good helm for mercenaries, but socket it with a ral to cancel out the -fire res
Crown of ages, not that useful but high def, res, and DR make your merc survive better
Armor:
Fortitude runeword, adds a good damage boost, and has good def
Shaftstop, damage reduction the more your merc is around the easier it is to kill things
Gameplay:
PvM:
Basically you tele around to your prefered mf area that just spam FO and Charged bolt while paying attention to immunities, If a monster is double immune and its not Cold/lightning immune use the one it has no immunity to even if conviction breaks the immunity, if it is cold/lightning immune hope one of them is broken by conviction or you'll have to stand there while your merc pokes at it.
PvP:
Ummm, its a mf character if you go PvP expect to litter the blood moor with your ears unless you are more skilled than I, which is very possible
