dream helm+light mastery effective?(bowsorc)

Was just wondering and just thought to ask your opinions. Is a dream helm viable with the mastery or would it only work when combined with the shield? if thats the case then oh well

The thing is that if you go melee, the mastery is applied twice.
So basically, if you go melee and use dream helm+shield, you do four times as much damage as if you go helm only and use bow.
A good melee build can get towards 70k damage, so that would still result in somewhere 15+k damage with a bow, but still nowhere near the start.

A bow can be very useful in pvp though, at least if you use widowmaker (guided arrows). If someone plays very defensive or runs away, sending a bunch of guided arrows after him can make him change his mind about that.

Also, keep in mind that the damages listed here are the maximum damages. The minimum damage is very low, so your average damage is somewhere in the region [maximum damage]/2. 7.5k lightning damage in pvp is reduced to 1.25k damage by pvp penalty, then further reduced to 312.5 damage if they have 75% light res. (Only 62,5 damage if they have 95% res.)

Hmm well this isnt really a pvp build. Just a general "Run out of ideas..bowsorc" kind of thing. i was just wondering if the damage added using a dream helm would work with a maxed lightning mastery. if it isnt i'll go another route like.. frozen orb or ES or something.

I have tooled around with a melee/bow single dream sorc for quite a bit, and I have to say its quite fun.

For a pure bowsorc...

20 Lightning Mastery
20 Energy Shield
20 Enchant
20 Fire Mastery
10+ Warmth

You won't do as much as a melee'r, but you will still be doing around... oh 17k damage with guided arrow. I wouldn't suggest using anything else but guided arrow either, you'll miss too much without angelics or another source of damage.


In pvp, if you decide to make a Bow"Hybrid" build you can go a couple of ways. Enchant is useless then, because you won't need the damage. You use guided arrow to get their attention, then finish up with spells with your switch gear.
