My cold resist is only 60. I'm almost always on the defensive when the BB and I charge him. Is there a way to teleport right before does the hoarfrost blast? I was looking for clues, like with Diablo and the lightning hose.
I'm Blizzard/Firewall hybrid.
We're killing him okay, but one time we killed him superfast and the MF was incredible. 4 set items! Coincidence?

Its possible, more easily tested with diablo's firenova or a sorc's nova/frostnova.
The thing is, even with 7 frame tele you need to practically click before the ring / projectile leaves the caster, so there is no use trying to practice it and use it effectively.

If you park yourself just out of reach of his Mana Rift you should have time to teleport right on top of him just before the Hoarfrost gets to you. Just make sure you reposition yourself out of range every time you teleport on top of him to avoid the Hoarfrost.

Once I'm on him, is it best to stick right on him?
It seems like far and close-up are good, and everything in between is the danger zone.
If you really have a hard time fighting baal, you can exploit its bugged AI when slowed. Equip an act2 merc with a Woestave or Kelpie Snare, then teleport right onto baal to let your merc hit baal once. Afterwards, baal will be slowed and his bugged AI will kick in. All its attacks afterwards will miss and neither you or your merc will take any damage at all; and it won't summon the effigy or tenacles any more. You can then finish it off in whatever way like. This method works for all difficulties, but it does make the game less fun, so only try it if you can't find other any better solution. I did do this long time ago when the ladder started when I was dirty poor and had to farm NM baal for items.
