Is there any point in the reward from Anya once you kill Nihlithak? And has anyone ever found one of their items they have personalised?

I do not get your question?
No, personalising an item does nothing, else than adding the characters name to the item name, and what about the second question? You personalise the item you give her, it has nothing to do with further finds.

so once you personalise an item it doesnt go into your personal items database so it is possible to find the original or your personalised version?

you mean you put it in your stash and cant find it? or what? you sold it back to her?

if its in your stash, and you find your items by using the "list" tab, itll be alphbetically sorted by the chars name that personalised it.

Like zarfen I don't know exactly what you mean by "finding a personalised item".

The Anya quest reward is like that: You choose an item, give it to her, she personalises it (that means it will get your name in front of the item name (e.g. "Salomon's Flail of Quickness") and the weapon name will change to orange colour) and that's it. There's nothin more to it. The quest doesn't influence your drops or anything like that.

Listen.
Personalising an item does nothing except adding *charname*'s before the item name, nothing!
edit:apparently it will change the color as well, I usually dont bother to get the reward, and the few times I did, I made it on set/uniques, and they dont change color

edit2: after thinking about it, I think you might have wondered about what herobomberman has answeared
edit3: @maxi, as I said, I've only done it with a goldwrap belt, and that didnt change color, I didnt know about it either, but someone above me said it does so...

Tell me more about this colour changing thing... What colours? How determined? What items?

Sorry, my bad...items don't change colour at all. Somehow I thought the items changed colour. I think it's because the last item i personalised was crafted...

I think I see what you are saying. Once you personalize an item that is the only item that will have your name on it. You won't be finding Diablo dropping a "Sorcynecro's Gull Dagger" or anything like that. You can still find a Gull Dagger (to use the same example) after you've personalized the same item, since you can find multiples of the uniques, just not in the same game session.

Pffft... personalizing is awesome. It allows for creation of weapons of unfathomable power, like this one (http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/1483/berserkeroz4.jpg).

My first 1.11 Patriarch is called Sigon. He has 6 armour pieces and 3 swords named after him.

LOL DC!!!

I suddenly want a character called Wirt to try and personalise that leg more than once...

(If only you could have Wirt's Wirt's Wirt's Wirt's leg... but that'd just be silly..)

It seems to me that perhaps the OP was under the impression that, much like in Nethack or similar games, the game keeps track of stuff on a per character basis. (In nethack for example, if one of your characters dies, you have a chance of finding that character's ghost on a future character and you can kill it and get your old items back.) But Diablo 2 doesn't work that way.

LOL @ DC!

That's settled then. My next character is going to be called "Wirt's Leg's". (nod of acknowledgement to nilynrae)

Think what you could do with an item that is personalised three times, then passed on to another character to personalise. The possibilities are ... potentially really stoopid. LOL

Maybe there's a tourney to be made from this? LOL

An item can only be personalised once, so unfortunately the tourney may be a bit short lived.

Darn. Back to the drawing board then ...

Yeah the genius of DC's item is that he took something that was amusing because it was already redundant and made it just plain hilarious by personalizing it.
*tip of the hat*

EDIT: other items you could do this to are:
Slayer's Slayer Gaurd
Divine Divine Scepter
Russet Russet Armor
Maiden's Maiden Pike
Maiden's Maiden Javelin

And there's probably more but this got too boring to continue.

I would like to see Bill's Bill though that'd be cool.
