I am experienced with SP but not with MP. Having said that, Once I create my character, how do I start to build him up? Do I create a private BNET game and run through all the normal acts solo? Or do I try to find other people just beginning? Also, when you talk about doing MF runs later in the game, is that solo or with a group.
THanks
After creating a new character I like to join games with people doing the same quest and around the same level as myself. I often see games titled "Act 1 start, "Starting," and the like. That can often be a good starting point. You can of course make private games and run through by yourself. The command /players8, does not work on B.Net, so you would be running in a single player game.
Many people like to fasttrack/rush the game to move onto Baaling and Dueling, so if you are looking for questing groups you may need to search a little further. Try 'Player Match-Up' if that is what interests you. Additionally, you can add players to your friend's list (/f a Username) so that you may contact them and play together again.
MF runs are often solo, but can be performed in groups. Many people have sticky fingers, so if you want your drops to be your drops - soloing is wise. Private or public games, both work in this respect.
I would just create a character and play him/her normally. BNet seems to be more difficult than SP, and the added challenge actually makes it more rewarding.
You won't be worrying about MFing until you get to higher levels anyway, and by then you'd have a good feel of how people do things on BNet.
As Emar suggested above, try to join or create games where other similar level characters are doing the same quest as you. A sorc and a barb working together is much easier than a sorc working alone (for example).
While you can get rushed to later acts, I reckon it spoils the fun of the game unless you've already beaten the game dozens of times or are rebuilding your character.

Just create a account on the CLOSSED bnet.. Thats what i would do.. Its just like single player, only with other people that can help you (or not).. if you are playing there, you will lear quick enough how the clossed bnet (multiplayer) works...
Mfing is fun if you have higher chars indeed. Fisrt play te game as is should be played.. Slay demons and undead..
