Used in the context of how awesome his build was.
"Gloams are a joke. One FO kills them."

Gloams are those invisible things that shoot lightning at you.
Gloams are also sometimes referred to as "Souls". Most of the time people talk about Gloams, they are talking specifically of the Black Souls that appear in Hell Worldstone Keep.

Gloams are the ghost-like monsters that are invisible while moving (except for a small spot on the ground). They are very dangerous due to the fact that they appear in groups, ALL fire at the same time, and their lightning travels very fast. I think their damage may be bugged as well (not sure if that's just for the Worldstone Keep ones or for all of them).

Bloams, Burning Soul, Willowisp.
Big eyes made of lightning that shoot beams of lightning at you and when they move they become invisible. Found in The Great Marsh, The Plains of Despair and The Frozen River. And also in the Worldstone Keep on NM and Hell.
One of the most dangerous monsters in the game since they are bugged. Instead of using the normal damage numbers for their type, they use the mana burn values which are 5 times higher than their normal damage. This is the main reason most people want at least 75% Lightning Resistance and perhaps some lightning absorb before making contact with them.
Large groups of Gloams can instant-kill a character which is not prepared, becuase they often fire a lot of lightning beams at you simultaniously. If you teleport into a large pack, all will fire at you and damage you within half a second which is very dangerous.
A lot of players with good equipment will tell you that Gloams are no threat whatsoever - ignore these people unless you yourself have that good equipment. Gloams are dangerous, period.
I you have 75% Lightning resistance and A Thundergods Vigor Belt, or a Blackhorn's Face mask or other item with +x points (not percentage) of lightning absorb, you will become immune to most Gloams. But even with with 90% lightning resist and a TGods, I can occasionally get killed by a particularly nasty pack of Conviction Aura Gloams mixed with Lower Resist casting monsters.

All Gloams are bugged (incidentally, all of those "Tainted" type monsters in the Act 1 Jail/Catacombs have the exact same bug, but their damage values are lower so you don't notice as much), but only the A5 Hell version of the Gloams are really insanely dangerous (all the other Gloams are dangerous monsters, but no moreso than any other dangerous monster- the A5 Hell versions are, along with Vipers, the craziest, cheesiest, and most dangerous monsters in the game).

I have to say, while I have read "You just need 75%LR in the WSK"; I disagree. I can't print exactly what I say when I see a pack of gloams but "oh crikey" would be an inaccurate interpretation.
Safest thing I have found is the old teleport into the middle of them trick. Works fine providing they are in one mass; otherwise the others shoot at you.
I always seem to teleport into Might enchanted ones when I tele the WSK.

True, but this is often my trick: wait behind a corner their first shot is cast and then teleporting just in the middle of the pack. With a good attack speed or casting rate (depending on what your weapon is) and decent res too of course, they won't have the time to shoot again before you killed a good 70% of em at least.
