Just a question about merc xp. do you and your merc divide the xp equally or do you kill your own monsters and get the rewards and likewise for the merc?

Hi,

The monsters you kill will give your character exp points, but not to your mercenery. However, the monsters your merc kills will count both as your kill and your merc's kill.

Let me go home and experiment a bit. I will kill monsters with my merc stat open and check if this is true.

You are confusing that with MF :azn:

Your merc gets XP from your own kills, but he gets triple XP for his own kills. However, your character might be more than three times quicker at killing momnsters and a merc doesn't need many XP to keep up with you, so it's not worth to take care who does the kill, at least not for XP considerations.

Mercs don't get any XP from kills of your party members or their minions.

1. The merc never "steals" eperience from you, you get the same amount if you have a merc or not.

2. If you kill a monster when you have a merc, he will get the same amount of experience as you do. (Not 100% sure)

3. If your merc kills a monster, he will get 3 times as much experience as you do.

Early on, the merc needs more experience than you o to level, so you need to give him a good percentage of the kills to have him the same level as you do. They made this system much better in 1.11, so now it's relatively easy.

After level 80 or so it's practically impossible to outlevel you merc unless you leave him dead. You need 10's of million of experience to level and he needs only 3-4 million.

Baaling on normal and nightmare seems to me to be a sure way to outlevel your merc. He seems to gain little experience when you kill Baals minions. I don't know if this is just something I experience, or if it's universal.
