Hi as my title asks, is there no hope for frenzy barb pvp? is whirlwind the only way to go? i've just reached lvl 30 and just gotten WW. it doesnt seem that impressive so far, as i'v only got 67 mana. and it uses up to half. Thoughts?

At lower levels, Whirlwind is indeed pretty ugly. However, at high levels (80-90+), you will already have 300-500 mana depending on your gear, which is by far enough even if you plan to do some heavy teleporting.

I vote WW aswell (althought do you mean WW barb when you say "windy"? As windy is mostly wind druid)

To be exact, this "wind druid" is the more common version of an elemental druid, called "windy" because their spells include manipulating air which is shown in ability to create tornados, hurricanes, twisters and whatnot at will. The other elemental druid is the fire one, using the left side of the skill tree for spells that open up volcanos and cracks on the earth. Not to mention summoning meteor showers.

oh ****. looks like i've wasted my point into frenzy then. i'm lvl 36 now with"

7 points in frenzy
1 point in WW
3 points in BO
1 point in BC.
15 points in Sword Mastery

Is there anything i can do to salvage my current barb? Or do ihave to roll over and start a new one. Is a frenzy-WW barb any good? or do i have to focus 100% on WW? Please note to take everything in perspective to PvP. Thanks alot ya? :)

Okay first off Frenzy Baba's are more PvM based characters and before Enigma's came out they were a popular build for rushing benefits. As far as PvP goes they aren't going to be an Uber class you will have to hope for all melee duels and when dueling other WW Baba's you are completely vunerable for free hits.

Overall WW Baba's are probably your best bet, as far as your points, yeah your gonna wanna reroll luckly it won't take you to long to get to where you are now. Remember like the post above me that WW isn't really good till about 60's or so and you have to have a decent weapon. Once you have decent gear Baba's are pretty hard to take down.

frenzy cant win any melee duels^^ they stand a chance against disgustingly shoddy sorceresses and thats it.
fantastic pvm sdkill though

Alright I actually reset the skill points using a trainer, as me and my buddies are just playing lan ayway (actually during class heh.)

I built a pure whirlwind version with points mainly going into WW, shout and battle orders. Mighty good defensively as shout bumped my defense to 600 odd when it was just 323 previously. however my attack rating dropped significantly i guess due tot he fact that frenzy added tonnes of attack rating. I found baal actually to be quite difficult to down. and i couldnt get used to the slow attackspeed when i ran out of mana. (Not to mention that i still dont atually get the Dance of Death thing yet. i click a short distance but that'sjust it. short. i spin barely for 2 secs and i stop. and i try to complete the triangle but ..oh well. i ran out of mana. then i had to go back to standard click and hold and wait. slowly. took me about 3 trips to town to restock on the pots.

Is it really going to be this hard pvm while i strive for lvl 60? :) i realise that i could just use the trainer, go frenzy, till i reach 60, then reset the points again, but who DID you guys do it? i'd like to be as legit as possible. tips?

Whirlwind can be quite effective at low levels as well, you just have to use fast weapons (shael butcher's pupil or a custom 35% ias naga for example) , mana leech and damage goes to mana modifiers.

Not necessarily. You should use some mana leech items, such as Manald Heal or Crescent Moon. Crescent Moon is actually a very splendid amulet to use until your Highlord's Wrath reaches around 30% deadly strike, which is exactly at lvl 80.

Since I play purely on Battle.Net, I just get my character to lvl 60 with no stats but with skills, leeching from the other members, possibly Battle Ordering them (since a barb's bo is always, after base lvl 20, higher than any other classes bo, which is at a maximum of 20). Usually I've designed my PvP characters so that they cannot use most of their gear until higher levels. For example, my weapons require me to have my Enigma, my Enigma requires me to have my Torch and Annihilus.

thanks guys. yeah i just got a greatsword which had a 6% mana leech and +1 to al barb skills. Worked very well when i had a large group tailing me. I'm beginning to get the idea now on how to use WW. HOWEVER, I still have problems learning the dance of death. i've tried using it on diablo and meph. didnt seem i was leeching enough mana to continue the dance though.

By the way, I've beenreading alot about frames and checkpoints and breakpoints and what not. Did some investigating and learnt that d2 runs at 24 FPS. that's about all i understood though. what does it mean when it checks at the 4th 8th frame? What does it mean looking for a weapon which passes the 2nd breakpoint?

Does it mean there's no difference if i choose a longer path to WW or a short path and there will be the same number of hits?

Oh dear this is becoming another one of my obsessions now. Reminds me of the time i played wow and went into all these calculations for weaponspeed mh,oh, cri rates and wat not. lol! Cheers mates~

PS: I don't know if its against the rules to link to the place where i got the trainer, but if you're playing on Bnet i dont suggest you do that. If you're just playing private games you could google for it quite easily =)

Ok i did some more reading up from rikstaker's pvp guide. So correct me if i'm wrong:

i: If a weapon's speed is 10, it is in fact lower speed than a weapon which as speed of -10.

ii: If a weapon's speed for sword is even lesser than -35 for whirlwind, it hits the second break point so instead of hitting every 6th frame (which gives 4 attacks a round : 24/6), it hits every 4th frame, giving 24/4 = 6 times a second

Is that right?

Correct. However, this doesn't mean that you shouldn't add Shaels to weapons. Shaels act negatively there, as in instead of making something from 0 to 20, they push it from 0 to -20.

Correct, except that the last WW breakpoint is -34, not -35.

Seems to me that you also need to read the forum rules haha ;)

You can find them here: http://forums.diabloii.net/rules/

Focus on "bumping" please as you seem not to be familiar with the term given your 3 posts in a row above
