well im thinking about making a hammerdin but i have one problem. cants afford a HoZ :sad2: i can get a enigma and shako and wizzy. but that 9 hrs jus seems a bit out there. should i use a rhyme for the +res and blocking. or a pally sheidl with 4 p diamonds?i cant decide the res from the pally shield wil help but rhyme adds to blocking (so if i get a 50% block shield it wil bring it up to 75%) i jus cant decide. :grin: ty for the help

You need to find and elite pally shield with 40+ resists and then make a spirit shield.

This approaches a HOZ in what it will do for your hammer guy. FCR is godly for hammers. About the same resists as an HOZ (+um) except for fire. Has FHR. Lower defense.

You a bit confused about blocking. Blocking is a function of sheild block, dextarity and bonuses to blocking such as from Holy Shield. You should put plenty of skills in Holy Shield and should have no problem reaching max blocking with minimal dexterity

spirits are more expensive then hoz's depending on the shield espically when dealing with SR or ST spirits since they have the highest blocking %.
spirit is godly over hoz mainly due to the fcr, and fhr. even though u can still hit the 125fcr bp when using hoz.

i kno the formula for blcoking but i dont want to have to pump as much dex if i can maintian 75% block with less resist becuase id perfer the xtra life over the dex. but another option is to not sell my gear and mf a hoz but i mean the chances from Nm mep is like 1:4496 so idk and i could go the spirit route but it wil e tough and time consuing to find pally shield with +40 res. i could probibly buy a hoz before i find a shield with those stats

when on level 85 or something with an elite pally shield ur dex only needs to be about 120 as long as you have like 8 hard points into holy shield to achieve max block

ok ty i think il go with spirit then cause i usually put about 125 pts into dex. or at least thats all i put into my SP hammerdin

you dont need 125 points into dex you really only need like 80 or so hard points with a good anni and torch. that will get you to the magic 125 number

You need to find and elite pally shield with 40+ resists and then make a spirit shield.

Normal and Exceptional shields can be used too. They also have the advantage of being usable at level 25, and are damned easy to find.

A Crown Shield is excellent value. Remember Spirit has no enh def bonus so the difference in defence is minimal. Crown has as good block as 3/5 of the elites, and the strength req of 65 can allow a low strength build.

The only other difference you will see with the elites is smite damage.
