View Full Version : last wish & up hoz
im new to the paly so i have two q's for a pally smiter
many post say to use death / HoZ (um) for smiter
1) since Death is chosen for its crushing blow why isnt last wish a lot more popular a choice? It has life tap, itd & cb !!
2) how do I up the HoZ and what will it do to the stats? (sorry for lame q)
3) For smite the mods on the weapon are taken into account but the weapon damage itself is not taken into account - is this right?
Thanks
Mark
Actually most people say to use Grief for Smiters, as it gives a massive damage bonus to Smite. The only guide I'm aware of that suggests the use of Death is kingdryland's Uber guide, which is actually more of a Zealot guide that a Smiter guide.
Anyway, Last Wish is good for Uber Tristram but I wouldn't use it for much else. Grief's raw damage bonus outshines it overall. Life tap can be made up for with Dracs or Exile; ITD is unnecessary with Smite as it never misses anyway; sufficient CB can be gotten elsewhere.
Lem + Ko + PDiamond + HoZ in the cube. It will increase the shield's base Smite damage and defense (and Strength requirement).
Correct about the weapon mods.

1. Lastwish is a good set up wep, as in useing it to beat down the UBRS for the extra CB then finishing them off with grief, i myself never tryed it but heard alot of talk about it. and to me i use last wish just screwing around in pits or trav its has great survivablity compared to grief, since it has the life tap/ fade procs...
2. answered by exile as was question 3.
think about useing a exile shield insted of HOZ, but thats just me :) good luck with ur smiter and welcome to the pally community

What's a good shield to put exile in? Also, is it bettter to use a HoZ normal or upgraded for smite? Which should I should I go with? :prop:
I always advocate (ethereal) Sacred Targes or Sacred Rondaches for Exile. Although Defense-maniacs will opt for Vortexes.
Upgrade your HoZ, it'll boost the shield's base Smite damage, and the new Strength requirement isn't too high (142).

I personally use a LW + 109 res all Sanctuary Kurast. I experimented this set up on SP first before making it on Bnet:P Sacred Targe has more block but i went for Kurast for style points lol A typical uber run would involve burning myself at that fire beside Hadariel @ river wp for a nice fade prebuff and then holyshield up. Waltz in red portal, approach uber, cast lifetap from my marrows and smite away hehe Rinse and repeat until all ubers dead :P Never had a need for Grief on switch. Oh i use Duress Wire for the OW and even more CB (also for style points :P) No one said looking good while taking ubers down was wrong hehe

Agreed! That's why my self-made Fortitude Boneweave >>> all.
Chain Mail/Mesh Armor/Boneweave style armor is simply the sexiest shirt you can give your Pally while still maintaining heterosexual feelings towards him... :wink2:
