Am I overthinking this wolfie?

Ok, I've read up on guides about fury/rabies wolves, and asked a few of my friends who have made fury/rabies wolves for some help, and I think that I've got most of the gear mapped out. I'm thinking that I may be overthinking this, however, and may do better with less gearswitches. The reason I have so many gearswitches is on most of my characters rely on them.

Anyway, heres my plan. (all jewelry will always be rfrost, bk, and higlord; boots and gloves will always be dracs and gores)

High Rabies Damage for melee chars:
Jalals, grief, bramble, ss, dungo, bk, rfrost, - switch, dweb and 20/20 monarch

Caster Equipment:
Jalals or Cerebus?, etomb, enigma, a crafted belt with 24 fhr resists and some life, - switch, cta, spirit monarch

Wind druid:
CoA, ebotd gpa, dungos, fort, - switch, cta, spirit monarch

I don't have some of this gear (etomb etc.), but in a perfect world, would those equipments work well. Heres some characters I don't know how I would handle:

Shapeshifters: I was thinking maybe dungos, cerebus, ebotdz, fort, ss. I'm primarily thinking about pure fury wolves. Should I try to out-fury them, or hit em with with a rabies then play defensively.

Pub Dueling Gear: Everybody has to practice somewhere. This is where I would duel for most of the time. Is it possible to get good all-around gear that can take down most builds?


Any responses would be very much appreciated. I've just been speculating on this in my Latin and Programming classes, and I think that it will work well enough. Thanks guys :grin: .

All the gear you mentioned is good but the only hard part is gettin in your groove on what items vs certain characters.

Growl i dont even know where to begin on the gear choices , its all in personall prefernce and exsperience from playing.

I cant stand cerberus on fury / rabies wolf since you lose so mant stats that you need on a fur/rabie wolf from jalals like the fhr , str,resistance and even when you use cerberus you wont gain much ar at all since your werewolf skill is already lower then a pure fury wolf.

Well if you havnt already get the following that you listed.

Jalals, grief (Phase blade), bramble, ss, dungo, bk, rfrost, - switch, dweb and 20/20 monarch
that gear and a ebotd great poleaxe will be your bread and butter gear.

hard part is gonna be gettin the + Shape Lifers.

It took me a Year to get My wolf 9 all shaper gc's with 42 or more vit.

Why would you use cerebus against casters ?
it's clearly a melee helm.

I had thought it had frw, but now that I double check, it doesn't. Anyway, it still might be good against hammerdins with high defense... maybe.

In my opinion it's best just for melee duels.
I guess a hammerdin can fall into that category since the loss of res wont really affect you much. You would still have to make up some FHR though.

i agree with kiba, the gear he said plus ebotd gpa is what i have exactly. its not easy dueling some people because my resists are lower but who said wolves were an easy char anyway.

I don't understand what you guys mean by the "and an ebotd gpa". Are you saying that its the listed gear is what I'll usually have, and an ebotd gpa in stash against some guys; and the other gear is helpful, but not as good.

Sorry, I'm just a bit confuzzled, for some reason I'm getting it off as if I have three weapon switch things :shocked: .

That's exactly what kiba was suggeting.
The idea for an ebotd gpa is 1) more damage 2) awesome range
Of course this is a two handed weapon so you should have an idea of when to use and not use it.

id only use a tomb if it was eth and had 3sockets. Good luck finding one.
If you cant find one an ebotdgpa while lacking the res has still really good damage and better range.

afaik ebotdgpa does have less dmg then an eth tomb (both perfect):grin:

So is Greif pb the preferred weapon these days over ebotdz for rabies/fury?

Bramble over Fort for meele?

I have a eth Tomb for switch ( ;) ) and the str requirements for it can make things tricky on switching.

Seems like you have to plunk a lot of base points into Str (only bonuses are dracs, torch anni and Jalals...75 total...so +50 ish or more into base Str?)

I like the 30 to all stats that ebotdz gives...but I lose it on the etomb switch...:(

Etomb is THE beatstick of choice.

No comparison to anything else. Nothing like watching a Hdin tele too close to you...and getting stomped into the ground.

If a pure rabies goes against a pure fury, will the rabies lose? Is it worth it to attack other wolfs with rabies, or will fury do better.

why not both ? I mean a fury/rabies has both attacks available to them.

I've seen lots of people use greif and lots use ebotd. We all know the damage each one does, but the reason why I'd personally choose an ebotd is cause of the better range.

As for bramble over forth.. theres options to use both. Wolves have alot of gear switches.

I am only going to answer the title. Are you over thinking this, yes. Is that a bad thing NO. And keep rethinking your builds and ideals. And never ever stop with just items. Think about every little detail!

punches all ebayers in cheapness. Btw, isn't ebaying / selling stuff like vritems is doin violating some agreement. A friend of mine who plays WoW said Blizzard got really angry about WoW cheaters, and did some mass account deletion.

as far as advice for different chars in pub games

fury druids-gear yourself as a fury
sheal stormshield
guills helm
rends
verdungos
ebotdz/shealed dc/eth razors
(this is pure good manners melee setup)

vs casters of any kind
eth tomb
jahals
**rabies gear mainly**

windys dont really fall into the vs casters part

you need to hit the 50% dr cap for windys
and hit and run tactics will be your best bet
either throw on a ss/ebotdz
or go with nigma/tomb/coa/dungos for max dr


as far as ebaying

ebay has banned the sale of d2 items..period
probally about 2-3 weeks ago i think

not sure how it came about..probally has something to fo with WOW and present d2 shops.
