I'm new here, but i've been reading the FAQ's on the uber fury druid, and it seems like lots of people agree that the Ribcracker is a great weapon for a fury druid. Now i've got one, but when i equip it, i do no damage. Im sitting at like 100-300 damage with it. How do you guys get your damage higher with this weapon, and why is it so good?

From the Summit:

Two-Hand Damage: (54-62) To (143-169) (98.5-115.5 Avg)
Required Level: 31
Required Strength: 25
Durability: 130
Base Weapon Speed: [0]
+200-300% Enhanced Damage (varies)
Adds 30-65 Damage
+50% Damage To Undead
50% Chance Of Crushing Blow
50% Increased Attack Speed
50% Faster Hit Recovery
+100% Enhanced Defense
+100 Defense
+15 To Dexterity

It shines as a shifter weapon for pvm with with plenty of ed, added damage, a bunch of fhr, great crushing blow, defense and the big help is the 50 ias, which is ten off hitting the 60 breakpoint (keep in mind only weapon ias and that from the werewolf skill will increase your attack speed). But the best part is the cracking noise it makes when swung. :wink3:

As for it not dealing much, make sure it's been upped to the elite version of the weapon if you're on ladder with the cube recipe (a lum, pul, perfect emerald).

Here's a pic of my upped ribcracker. The damage is pretty sweet, especially accompanied with the huge fhr bonus and the crushing blow.

Also, keep in mind that crushing blow is crucial if you go after the ubers. Having 50% on the weapon alone means you can free up other equipment parts for safety reasons rather than go for even more crushing blow.

alright, heres the thing, i didn't know about this ladder vs. non ladder advantage. I'm a non ladder. So i dont think theres really anything i can do to make my ribcracker not suck. Is there any suggestion as to items that might be a good substitute?

Try and buy one, it shouldn't be too expensive, even off ladder. Other cheaper alternatives include windhammer,ik maul, non eth tomb reaver (ladder only but it should be cheap).

Even non-upped, Ribcracker is a very Hell-viable weapon (although nowhere near as good as the upgraded version). The CB and the speed make a huge difference. Don't just look at the numbers- take it for a test drive and see what you think.

If your looking for damage and cant get the upped ribcracker. Go for a shealed windhammer, or a doubled shealed ik mual. They bolth have the ias, damage, and crushing blow amounts you would want.

Dang, that's one sexy ribby you got there.

Other things that make Ribby great:
- next-to-no requirements. I mean, 63str/35dex for an Elite-class weapon, or 25 str for the normal one is simply insane.
- Awesome defensive mods. Lacking a shield, this makes up for it a little, I guess. +100 to your base defense, then +100% to your total defense is pretty neato (considering Wolves have no defense boosting skill other than a Defiance merc).
- 15 Dex... yeah I'm sure that does something or whatever.
- You can use that puppy (no pun intended) from level 31. A weapon that totally pwns NM before you even get there.

Everyone forgot to mention the sick whack sound it makes everytime you hit. That's what did it for me ;)

I remembered when I was doing NM Baal with my not quite IK barb, and people are asking what kind of weapon that I was using that does so much damage (I muled the ribby off my druid). The number of surprised looks was simply satisfying.

Up'd eth zod ribcracker or noneth w/ shael though?

Non eth + shael is 1 frame faster and to me speed to hit is everything. It just feels better. I think the eth one does a little more damage overall though, especially on low HP enemies.

Ribcracker is so good because it has +100 Defense. But really it's the combination of Crushing Blow and 5 FPA Fury that is the sweet deal for killing bigger mosters.
