for a 95 es pvp light sorc at lvl 90
seems like terribly low damage, even for pubbies
12000 * .17 * .25 = ~500 average damage
if an average pubby smiter has 3k life.. it'll take about 6 lightnings to kill him?
i opted for only a 9es memory switch since it's for pubbies
using:
griffs
+3 light/10fcr
hoto
vipermagi 'shael'
upped viscertuant 'shael'
cta/lidless
arachnid
2x soj
frostburns
eth treks
9x light gc
torch/anni
4x fhr sc
6x life/mana sc
edit: nvm 26k with griffs so ~540 pvp damage
double edit: should i go eschutha (don't really want to, hoto gives mana, dex, oak, life regen, plus i'd have to trade for it) for more damage, and should i go 20 into light synergies then max light mastery last or max a light synergy last and max light mastery

Dont know about the skill stuff, but your getting so much more out of the Hoto than the eschuta. Eschuta's +lite% is only applied to the mastery, and lets just say that a possible 25%, really is pointless when compated to more mana/res/regen and such.

When you go 95% Es, tanking is your main concern, not damage. Your damage will be what your damage will be. Also, light mastery > synergies, its a simple 12% vs 8%.
That being said, the resists from hoto will help, but not as much as you might think.
Uh yeah, I'm tired.

on damage calculator i get more from putting points into synergy and 1 point light mastery than other way around..
I'd say your damage it's ok, but then again I don't do much pvp :/

The interaction between them is a bit harder then that. Your skill "lightning" has a base damage depending on it's level, then that number is increased by synergies before mastery applies. Meaning mastery and synergies do not add but instead multiply each other, and as you know 10*10 is more then 1*19.
However, since they have a difference in their percentage bonus per level, the most effective point placement isn't spreading your points equal as I did above. And the mastery bonus gets effected by +skill equipment while synergies do not, adding one more thing to keep in mind while doing the calcs.
Anyway, PhatTrumpet made a guide (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=485416) about it that you might find usefull.

That's a fairly common misconception. Because synergies and masteries multiply together, it boils down to a matter of proportional increases, not incremental increases.

Because the synergizing adds to the base damage, the lite mastery multiplies the base damage by a %.
Yes of course, I clearly wasn't thinking.
This damned test I've been studying for has destroyed my brain.
Oh well, back at it I suppose.
