Hey folks. Look, I'm sure this isn't the place to seek this kind of help, but i've exhausted most other venues. Thought maybe somebody here could help me. I've had DII lod downloaded on my puter for over 3 years. All of the sudden I can't connect to Bnet...it tells me.."unable to connect...if you're using a modem, make sure you are connected to the internet...got to blizzard.com/errormessages for further help... well, nothing is wrong with my internet connection...high speed..dsl...nothing new...nothing else affected. i've tried uninstalling/reinstalling dii, but that didn't work...not a firewall... Have you of you ever run into this? I'm not a puter guru, so maybe it's something simple. Hope somebody can help me out with this. Thanks in advance.
Try resetting your modem, it usually works for me.
Are you sure you're not temp-banned? Did you switch chars rapidly like in an xfer?

Well this is what i do to check if i am indeed temp banned from a certain realm:
Log on an acct or make one up on another realm and see if you get the same message. For me i have an acct in another realm as i do inter realm trading as far back as .09 if i wanna test new grounds/realms :P If you do not receive that same message then you prolly got temp banned from the previous realm :/ And ya blizzard allows duping and hacking to still exist but legit self muling is a cardinal sin

Yes sorry if i rant OT but when my m8's gave up i was forced to do this a lot and it really ticks me off when i lose legit self-found stuff just because i'm tryin to put it on the right mule and dupers get away with blue murder!

That's just a polemic exaggeration, a rhetorical phrase. A more accurate description would be that Blizzard is more successful with dealing with bad things which are easy to prevent than with preventing those which need more efforts to find out. Such a statement is obviously true.
I'm better at doing the dishes than at brain surgery, but that does not mean that clean dishes are more important for me than healing brain cancer :azn:

Clean dishes are more important for me than healing brain cancer though, since I'm a programmer:wink3:

No, I am not banned in any way. I can't log onto bnet, period. So I can't use another realm. When the screen comes up, you hit either: single player, conect to bnet, other multiplayer..blah blah. It immediately states that I'm unable to connect...inform me that i'm not connected to the internet....well, I know i'm connected to the internet! something bizarre, indeed.

I agree that finding somebody to clean my dishes is harder than finding a brain surgeon

Perhaps your server list is screwed up. The FAQ on the bnet page covers that issue.
Edit: Here it is - http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=aInformation0633p1 ... see the download link at the top, but also have a look at the rest of the page.

Well i think Blizz finds it to their interest to dedicate more to say WoW cos they make so much more out of that and sometimes people are surprised that there are amongst us still paying LOD :P I have known people who are so frustrated with the current state of affairs on Bnet LOD that they have decided to call it quits :(

only thing i can say is find the thing to revert your computer back to the date before this started happening, it can probly be a number of things, especcially if you CAN connect to the internet, like firefox or IE...
worse case buy a new D2 exp try that
but i was having problems b/c that it still saves char list and other things after u uninstall and i know if u re-install it back into the same folder in that drive it does cause minor problems....
just IMO here...

Ok, was able to switch realms, and it let me get on via useast, which i never use. therefore, I guess I am under temp-ban from west. Why? All my stuff is legit..found it all. You can get banned for simply muling?? what the frack is that about? And how long will I be banned???

Ya it is a source of frustration for me as well and i can relate! It did not occur at all back in .09 :( This is what i think *why* muling prompts a temp ban: it could be that the anti hack/bot system run by Blizz interprets changing characters quickly in a scenario like self muling as botting i.e the use of programs to have characters find items, etc for you. In short it is not sophisticated enough to differentiate players from self muling and botting. I am not a programmer though and this is just a rather simplistic theory :P

So, how long do these temp-bans last???
because you probably tryed to log onto the realm over and over and over... 2 days, dont try to log on till then :P

nope, well then we have another problem houston, because I went 5 days without trying to log on, and still same prob.
