I just got bored with lod softcore and started a hc classic sorc, and got addicted :rolleyes: haven't been playing classic since 1.08 or something like that and damn its fun!

I got some questions though, what is the best place to start looking for shards, gulls and goldskins and other nice uniques?

I understand that rares are the way to go, but ....yeah :)

I did the same thing you did, in a way. I hadn't played D2 in a couple years, then picked up LoD HC and Classic HC at the same time, and I love classic more. The thing is, I just switched over to Non-HC, because I realized that in the end, I want to PvP. plus the fact that I lost a couple level 20's to tppkers already, and almost got deeds from lag a few times, just wasn't worth the stress to me. If Blizz ever fixes the tppk deal and cleans up the lag, HC would be more fun for sure.

imho you could do alot worse than killing nightmare diablo with first kill, find cow games and raid them and kill diablo they should have the quest already done, and if you havent got the quest yet, he will drop lots of rares/uniques (He can drop all types of items but you wont be able to get max stats on some exceptional items). Nm cs is easy cleared out with frozen orber, i would max orb/synergy put 15 or so in cold mastery and a few in teleport, then rest in lightning incase de seis is cold immune. This sorc would make a good rusher later on but is not very useful in hell.

so, wait what? are you saying DON'T kill NM Diablo, and go hunt for some NM cow games with the quest already done?

Or make a game yourself with a char which killed nm Diablo and then join the game with your MF char. Either by spending at least 5 minutes(use /time after you make the game) MFing other places with that game-maker or by having 2 computers with 2 Diablos using 2 different keys.

hmm. Im guessing this works for Hell Diablo as well.

What IS the best Sorc Diablo runner?

Orb/TS?
Meteorb?
Blizzard?

I'm personally partial to Orb, so, Orb/TS, or Meteorb? I know Diablo is somewhat Fire resistant haha, but would Meteor/Fireball be a better secondary skill than TS for other places? I'm guessing that the skill points could be placed such to achieve a happy medium damage-wise all around.

Heh, i've been using this method in LoD sc on hell baal, can run 2 diablos :wink3:. I guess i'm gonna get one char to hell and use him as a game opener.. Blizzard sorc with ~1.2k damage should do the cs run easily in 2 player game or?

p.s. currently running without ES, but all resists are max in nm and life is about 700 at lvl 5x. My mana is horrible, about ~200. :p

make game, exit and bring ur char quickly
most of the time the game is still up, i used to do it for hell diablo runs with lord

In hell he is, in Nm he is about 1/3 to 1/2 the time.

you will find hell cs very difficult with sorc without bo, and you should have over 2.5k blizz damage at lv 80+

If you are going the nm diablo route i would recommend an orb sorc with some lightning skill. Orb owns nm cs only problem is occasional cold immune seis, so a back up lightning skill is useful (static + lightning or ts to finish)

Yes, Orbers can solo Hell CS when 4 people at most are in a game. It just takes a lot of patience, but it's manageable. :grin:

but what about Meteorb? Is this viable in classic? I had one long ago, like pre 1.09 or so. It was fun, but wonder how well it works now.

Something like

20 Orb
~1-10 CM
20 Meteor
~10 FBall
~1-10 Fire Mastery
~10 Teleport

This would put you at what, 75ish? plenty feasible. Approx 300damage per Orb shard, and 2500damage per Meteor impact. Along with -75% Cold Resistance (which is what should end up being maxed out as well IMO) This comes with a 600damage Fireball too! :jig:

I just started building a barb i can use for bo:ing my sorc, and i could use him for killing the cold immune lord de seis :thumbsup:

At the moment i think i keep running nightmare diablo, because i don't have very good equipment yet and i don't want to get killed in hell only because of crap resists or something like that :prop:
