Just got my Vista Ultimate and was wondering if blizzard has planned to release 64 bit versions/patches for their software. If not I'll just stick the 32 bit version on my PC for now. I certainly won't hold my breath for Blizz to release any updated software for now.

I don't see the reason to update d2 to 64bit, given that almost all 32bit user-applications (i.e. non-drivers) can run fine on 64bit Vista, and there's no performance gain on 64bit platform for most application. I'm only aware of program like database and compiler to take advantage of the much larger memory address space.

The world is not ready for vista, especially in game industry.

Yeah, the average computer nowadays is already way overkill for what the game needs.

I know, tis the reason for the thread.

I was hoping anyone might have some information regarding this. The world definitely is not ready for 64 bit platforms yet (except me :-). Some, and most, software is iffy on Vista 64 bit. It's not that the software would benefit, it's that it would just plain run.

It'll change in a few months as it usually does. Thanks for the feedback.

*the funny thing is, my "overkill" computer still lags in certain areas. Which is also attributed to bad programming.
