I think the mods on it are better than Hlords, Def, AR and Resists vs. DS, usless IAS and +1Skill.
What do you think?

I prefer maras over them all, the ar on metalgrids isnt that great, but you get alot of life, 5stats, damage, block, dr, and a bit less ress on a maras.

I'd also vouch for the mara's, especially as a hybrid. The skills will improve venom & lightning sentry damage while also adding 2 more pdr through fade (not much, but with one to five base points it adds up) and more block through clawblock as Smithenator mentioned. It's just a little more rounded - supplementing a range of skills rather than giving some ar and def. Though it might be worth trying as an ar boost for a melee setup (maybe something like dual ravens and a metalgrid), give it a try and see how you like the results.

IAS isn't useless if it gets you to the next trap laying speed.

I think there are only two options, Maras or 2sin/+15FCR ...
metalgrid would be very useful for the following builds
ww/kick
ww/wof/kick
pure ghost
on these builds +skills are not as big of an issue and therefore you can get away with using metalgrid since it will provide you with a little more melee beefiness.

i'm going to completely disagree with you there. 15FCR on an ammy is only really needed by 'sins without FCR on their helms. i find it's a bit too restricting as such amulets are rare to say the least. such ammy's with useful additional mods are even rarer and highly likely to be duped.
for those with a 20fcr helm to go with Trangs and an Arach, only 5% FCR is needed on ones amulet to hit 65%. this allows for far more flexibility in gear choices for those of us who don't possess a +2/20fcr/20res/20str ammy.
back to the topic at hand, i wouldn't be using a grid with any trap build, you really need all the +skills you can get your hands on. if you need bulk AR, a fools claw is probably the way to go.
i have used a 'grid on a ww/kicker in the past, mostly for res-stack. if i need more AR than my fools claw is giving me, i'll don Angelics as i'm unlikely to be facing an elemental caster.
a Mara's is a solid choice, even if it ties up a ringslot.

I meant as in 15FCR to use a CoA, which is what you said :)
I would personally think that CoA offers great flexibility and is an overall excellent defensive helm especially against melee. It has Skill/DR/FHR/Resist and 2 sockets make it a very versatile helm. The STR one it is also not bad considering its 7 more than the dancers most people wear.

2/15+/mods is extremely good for WW/Trappers who use a 20 fcr circlet also. My current setup actually uses a 2/15 in pubbies at all times. This allows me to keep my 65 fcr (needed imo) and wear a 15% DR Verdungos.
8 DR (Enigma) + 25 DR (Fade) + 15 DR (Dungo) = 48 DR, wearas the Arach setup ends up with 33 DR (smiters and barbs = ouch). I can switch to Tgods without any FCR penalty as well, and I don't need more than a single hard point in Fade (leads to better traps).
This versitle setup is really effective, especially for pub duels where you might need to duel a Necro (really need FCR) and a Barb (really need DR) at the same time or back to back.
While smiters may be auch, they shouldnt be able to kill you :S

they sure can kill you if you run around with 33dr, wind druids also go from being pretty easy to hurting quite a bit .
They would kill you yes if you running with like 2k life..
Gm ww//trapper >> Gm smiter.

This is a pub setup, practically every smiter you meet in a pub will throw on x2 wisps and a tgods, and they WILL be able to kill you.
