Which Merc to get?

I"m a newb sorc, haven't played D2 in 3 years. What merc should I get, My char is a Meteor / Blizz Sorc, and primary use is going to be for MF'ng

Also can u be specific and not use the merc slang terms, which exact Merc should you get and from which act.

Act2 mercs can use polearms and spear weapons.

Holy freeze (Act2 Defensive) merc is the best to slow down crouds of monsters while you blast them.

Merc eq- limited wealth version...
Helm-Guilliams or Grizwalds with Ptopaz's
Armor- Skulders or 'Wealth' Runeword
Weapon- Bonehew or Reaperstoll

Merc eq- unlimited wealth version...
Helm- Dream Bonevissage or Ptop Shako(Dr, life, mf)
Armor- Eth Fort or Eth Skulders socketed with Ptop
Weapon- Infinity or Insite or Eth Tomb Reaver socketed with Ists

An act 2 Merc can use pretty much any helm at lvl 80+, so get the best defense/res/mf dream you can get. Bone vissage, Spired helm, Corona and Demonhead helmets with 3 sockets are the best choices.

If you want the sorc purely for mf, I suggest making sacrificing your mercs killing power, but keeping his res maxed and giving him as much mf as possible to finish bosses after you get them low, to tack on an extra mf % at the bosses death.

Another option is to equip your merc with very effective gear, like eth fort/guilliams/infinity, and maxing your own mf but using isted ali baba and isted monarch(rich) or splendor (poor). The conviction aura from your merc, in combination with the croud control of his holy freeze, will allow you to remain effective even in 500+ mf sets.

Agreed with Lycan but for unlimited wealth I would go for Act5 baba with Last Wish, Fortitude, dream. Doesn't help your dmg with Infi but he he packs alot of punch for immunes. Don't forget you always got FO for slowing (except cold immunes) and that fire immunes can be a real ***** without a good dmg dealing merc (I hate act2 ones taking so long)
