I was told that infinity breaks immunes in hell so i sold my right arm for an eth cv for my merc and strolled out to the blood moor with a big grin on my face... SURPRISE the cold immunes are still immune! I went on the channels and bunch off ppl said you need -Enemy Cold Resist in order for it to work (since Infinity has -Enemy Lightning Resist it can break immunity). So I sold my 3k Fort (i cried) and bought a doom ettin axe for the -Enemy cold Rez but still it doesnt work! I dont understand i have just as much -cold rez as infinity has -light res and it can break lightning immune but not cold........... HELP IM LOST AND CONFUSED!!

ouch ouch ouch. Cut your losses and don't take further action towards this end until you verified by the strongest means possible from multiple sources that you can in fact break cold immunities. WIth all the buzz about breaking lightning immunities I would think that if breaking cold immunities were practical it would get a lot more discussion here.
I'm too lazy to type up the details, so I'll just point you to one good read (http://www.battle.net/forums/thread.aspx?fn=d2-gameplay&t=163465&p=1&#post163465). Question #2 in it talks about removing immunity.

yeah infinity can remove immunity, but only of the have lets say 140%cold immune, and your aura has -50 all res...then it works but if they got more than it doesnt work...thats at least what i know

Scrap the cold sorc and build a light sorc (or trapper, furyzon, etc.). Either that, or sell your infinity back out. Infinity can break immunes with resist < 117%. However, a lot of cold immunes has resist >= 120% (knights has 180......).

Infinity (as well as Lower Resist, Amplify Damage, and Decrepify) work at 1/5 efficiency against immunes. So if the aura had -50 res, it would only remove 10% resistance from the monster. Since most Cold and Fire immunes have such high resistance to their relative elements, they can't be broken by Infinity's aura.
ALL other sources of -res (such as from gear) have NO effect whatsoever against immune monsters.
