Any stat points in Dex? How many pts in Mana Shield?

I'm a newb to the sorc class. Any high level uber items gonna have a dex requirement?

What about vitality, how many points do you put into that?

1. Not unless you're going for max block, which i find slightly pointless on a sorc
2. Everything, usually.
3. Depends on your build. I'd say no

1. I hate the term max block. You can still invest in DEX to get decent block chances like 50%.
BTW CAN WE PLEASE AGREE ON THE MAX BLOCK ISSUE? Is it good or is it not. I've build 10 sorcies max block/es, ES/TK, max vita, ES/max mana and still can't decide :\

2. Probably everything you don't NEED. Calculate str based on your end gear (but don't go dreaming. Think of gear you already got or can acquire-I have build too many sorcies thinking of perfect torch+perfect anni). 50 points are OK with TOP notch gear (CoH), but you'll probably need 90+ for good (tal rasha). Or you can go with low str (70) and just decent items (Viper, Lidless).Then dexterity after you decide if you want to block or not. Then split between Vitality and Energy. If you got tons of +mana just pump vitality but energy isn't the huge waste most guides talk about. Try saving as many points as you can then troobleshoot yourself.

3. ES is a weird skill. If you wanna use it you'll need to pump Telekinisis (synergy) and get lots of mana. Personally I don't like ES since even with maxed TK the mana drain is too big for me and I just wasted 19 skill points. Check here (http://strategy.diabloii.net/news.php?id=564) to see why. I prefer blocking, vitality, max resists and Damage reduction.

not really, except a wizknife. but there are better weapons than a Wizknife to choose from.
What about vitality, how many points do you put into that?
the general rule is: as many as possible. the only major exceptions are Glass Cannon 'zons and serious ES-sorc's.
Question 3, Should you max out mana shield?
if your making an ES sorc, it's a tricky business. you need to balance life & mana pools very carefully. i'd get at least 16 hard points into telekinesis, max out offensive spells and pump ES last.

If you have energy shield as a main part of your build, maxing tk is vital.
