I am going to test a new build, going with a Spear instead of the traditional Javelin. Please give me some input on what I have planned so far;

ATTRIBUTES:
STR: 107
DEX: 151
VIT: ALL
ENE: NONE

SKILLS:
Level 1-6:
4x Critical Strike
1x Jab

Level 6-12:
6x Dodge

Level 12-18:
2x Dodge
3x Avoid
7x Jab

Level 18-24:
6x Jab

Level 24-30:
1x Penetrate
5x Evade

Level 30-86:
3x Evade
6x Jab
1x Pierce
1x Power Strike
1x Poison Javelin
1x Lightning Bolt
1x Charged Strike
20x Lightning Strike
17x Charged Strike

Completed at level 86, any skills points beyond goes to synergies for Lightning Strike. Build is based on using a BoTD Runeword in the form of a Matriarchal Spear. Suggested Enigma for Body Armor and Delirium for Helmet, mana and health leech gloves and boots (boots also need run/walk speed), preferably Stones of Jordan, any high belt for pots and a good amulet.

Have not tested it very far for resitances yet, it is a PvE, but is probably very useful at PvP because of the high lightning damage.

I don't see what an Enigma would really do for this build. I'd switch it for CoH or Fortitude for resists + extra damage. I would consider a Silence RW in a good Zon pike and possibly BK ring instead of SoJ.

I second silence. A friend made a poker-zon with that runeword to help out with resistances (silence gives +75 all). Enigma also seems like a strange choice -- you don't need teleport on every character.

You could also go w/ a high defense Fort and other high defense items, then grab a defiance aura mercenary, so your lack of a shield won't be as painful when you get face to face with monsters to kill them =P

I think keep D/A/E at one point each and put the 16 saved skill points elsewhere. With half decent +Skills you'll reach the point of severe diminishing returns beyond which the skill points will be burnt.

You can probably get away with one point in Pierce too - particulary if you use Razertail belt.

I also second (third?) the idea of Silence - you're doing skill-based lightning damage, and the +2 skills will be very helpful for that as well as boosting the passives. The resists are incredible. I'd also only go with 1 hard pt in D/A/E, unless you are HC.

Enigma does little for you. Try CoH for the skills and resists.

Also, the req's on a Mat Spear are 114/142 Str/Dex, and remember to add in the pts from items before you put hard points in the stats. Silence also gives -20% Req's and causes Flee/Blind, so no need to get curses from Delirium. Try a Skill helmet - maybe Shako for the +2 skills, life, DR%, or one for Crushing blow.

I agree with dudspud on this. No need for pierce. . .your skills are gonna do just fine w/o it. 1 or 2 hard points in the D/A/E is about all you're gonna need. Put your points into the valk and the decoy skill. Yes- you're gonna need help tanking. Stick with the Act II Merc, too. Normally on a tanking build I recommend the rogue merc, but not this time. Duriel is gonna have a field day with you. No shield and your attack speed is gonna be slooow. Add the slow from his holy freeze and you're gonna be in a world of hurt. You are gonna need IAS BAD. Jab helps, but you're using a relatively slow weapon.

Luckily, CS is the Boss killer of choice. . .and LS has killer crowd control ability once it's maxed and synergized.

GOOD LUCK with the build- let us know how it goes.
