Ha, so after about 3 years of playing diablo(started back when it came out, took a break, got back another break, and now im back) i finally got my first legit hr drop from monsters. Yesterday, while doing a hell cow run with my new hdin for the first time, an ohm rune dropped. I was pretty surprised that a hr dropped... So, to get to the point, whats your best higher rune or rune that you got of monsters?
For me the highest ever was a Ber rune from a maosoleum run I did in a 3 player game. Was on the first ladder session.
Shortly after I found the rune I did hellforge rushing like crazy to get an Ist and eventually ended up making my only sofar high lvl rune word, a Chains of honour in a 15ed sacred armor for a conc barb I had.
After that drop highest have been Mal. I have never traded in runes because im paranoid of being 100% legit so will probably never get another runeword liek thatbut one can always hope :) Running the pit now currently liek crazy in single player, zod drop please. :laugh:

My friends and I got a Jah earlier this season from Baal's minions (might've been the fourth wave). I've been holding onto it ever since in the hopes of finding an Ohm or Ber to make a legit 'Faith' or 'Enigma'.

I have played for years, and Pul (has happened twice) is still the highest non-HF rune I have seen.
Highest is ber. Been around when 2 other bers dropped and when one vex dropped. 2 guls also.
my best drop, mal on cow level (sp), and my brother get vex.
and when i see on trade forum offers in hundreds of hrs i wanna quit...
but i hold blizzard responisable for that: first allowing dupers such things and second making this runes so rare (instead of hr drop u should play lottery that day)
They dont "allow" dupers. They just cant do anything about it.
But i agree. A small twink in hr drops would be good in my opinion.
My highest have been 2*Vex runes (on this ladder). Also found Um & Ist on my way to countes..:laugh:

"Can't" is a bit presumptuous, don't you think? They used to do something about it. I wouldn't exactly say it's merely a coincidence that as the game has gotten older they've done less and less about it.
Yea, they can buy new, faster, better, more shiny servers. As that is what the whole dupe thingy is, crashing the servers. Atleast last time i checked... But lets face it. They wont do it. If they do, ill eat my hat.

Whilst countess running for keys she dropped a Mal!

I got a Lo about 3 weeks after the season started, I made a Fort in the first 4 socket light armor I found. My heart skipped a beat when I saw it, I took a pic with my cell phone cause at that time I didn't know about screen shot, lol. I've also found a 2 Vex's and an Ohm in my Diablo career.
Best one I received was an IST from Hell forge; yesterday today to be exact. Should have taken a screenshot. Then In a Hell Chaos game right afterwards, found a set of IK armor, not a bad day for me to say the least.
I average about 1gul/6ists per season.
Now for a back in 1.09 story. I had 2 surs drop with in a week! The cruel irony was that there was like one? maybe no? rune words they could be used in, they were high level junk!:laugh:
I put one sur in a bow, the chance to blind was pathetic, but it did give give me a taste for it and I wanted to make a 'silence' bow. I had everything in short time except the vex. It cost me the sur, an ist and a mal to get a vex from a player that was trying to get a complete rune collection. (no cubing or dupe runes back then)
Highest found was Jah.
Over the course of LoD, most important lesson I learned (aside from needing a life): If you ever have a self-found Ohm _AND_ Jah, don't you DARE Faith a GMB. Hello lvl.12 Fanaticism that destroys my build. But can't reroll the bow cause it's fully legit. Can't even Merc it to another character either.
A Lo from baal himself when doing a baalrun just after helping with ancients in a random pub. :azn:
@draffut: lvl 12 will be suffiecent for a strafer, you'll only need 40 ias, and for the higher lvl auras you need 35, so the difference aint that big :azn:
Kijya: It was for a PvP bowazon. lvl.12 Fana meant there was no way I could use Fortitude, hit 7fpa, AND have Knockback. Or use my rare boots :sad:

hehe, true, but if you ask me it's worth the risk, might still work out fine, and if you really do get the worst roll you *can* still use it on a pvm strafer :azn:

I found a Pul just the other day, after being back for 3-4 weeks. Quite a few mid-level runes (11-20) during this time...
IIRC in the old days, highest I ever saw was a Gul from the forge...

My highest from a forge would be a mal rune during a hell rush, but the person i was rushing stole the mal, so during a hellforge its just a gul rune. Best countess drop is an um..

2 ists here. One in Chaos Sanctuary and on at Andariels, but I dont think it was her that dropped it.

back in .09 I found a jah. This season I found an ohm @ the countess, although one of the creatures around her dropped it. And in a 6 player game a cham dropped. A sorc picked it up but here inv. was full, luckely for me :D
The ohm i traded for 2 ist (aargh, I was stupid back then) and the cham is gathering dust on my assa :P

Lately I've had quite a few lucky hr drops. A random zombie in Worldstone Keep lvl 1 dropped a cham, bremm dropped a ber, eldritch dropped a Lo & I had a sur drop somewhere in the cow level. All within 1 week, no less! :D
I found a sur early in the season while I walked to Baal with my dreamer, even from the first monster encountered. Was I happy I wasn't such a lazy bum in town spamming 'tp plz'!

A friend ,about 10 months ago, was leveling/playing his fishymancer through hell. In the underground passage between stony field and dark wood, he meets two champion zombies. He kills the first,vex drops. He kills the second,ohm drops.
Nuff said.

Only hr I've ever gotten on ladder was an Ist from Hell hellforge, so that doesn't count, I guess.
In SP, though, I've gotten Ber and Vex drop from monsters. Quite funny; when I had the Vex dropped, a friend of mine was desperately looking for one on ladder, haha!
i have had 2 hrs drop on me,cham in public dia game, i snatched it from all chars, they where mad, and i was mfing (ME !?) and i found a Sur rune :grin:

I've personally picked up 4+ Ums, 1 Vex, 1 Ohm, 1 Ber. I've witnessed many hr's drop, but was never in the right position to grab it first in the pub games.

I found 2 Mals, one from Countess and the second one from a Sharman in the Tamoe Highlands, both this season.
Highest from HF is Ist.

Well to date I have found at least 1 of every rune up to Ber and multiples of some. 3vex several mal/LO, 2sur and 1 of the rest. On the other hand I have cubbed to zod. So dont give up folks it can happen. Save those EL runes.
I made some countess runs some time ago and found Um. Then made next game
and got Ist. Then in the next game I also got Ist ! I was like wtf since it never wasn't actually countess who dropped these.. They were some random monsters
on my way to her..:shocked:

2 Gul, 1 Mal, 3 Um, 1 Vex, several Pul and Lem(at least 4 of each).
The Mal and 1 of the Ums were found in the same game in a timeframe of around 5 minutes. Um dropped in the Crystalline Passage and Mal in the Frozen River while saving Anya. 3 more people were in the same game, but as my char as a melee one(Frenzy barb) he was the closest to the monsters, so I grabbed both. :)
Of course, I've seen some HRs drop on other multi games(including Zod) but wasn't fast enough to grab.
I found the Gul and most of these Lems quite recently(Countess, HF) and given the high amount of dupes these days, I'll keep these as a personal, legit trophy.

I found a Sur when I was the only player in the game, and I've seen Ber and Jah fall in Baal runs. On both of those occasions some bozo with pick it got the runes. One thing I love about summoners, they lesson the effectiveness of pick it so everyone has a chance.

With the selffound HR's I make pure selffound Runewords. That are 2 Call to Arms ( both with 5 or 6 Bo ...) Your best option would be a doom runeword. Or you can save the HR's as trophy's by themselves.
My friend and I have found a few HRs, and even cubed up HFs to get legit HRs... We found: 4 * Ohm, 1 * Lo, 1 * Jah. We cubed up a Ber and made:
Eni MP 15/10 +774, CTA6, 35/35x Grief PB and a CTA2
I still have an Ohm rune left :)
EDIT: 3 * Ohm at Chaos, 1 * Ohm at WSK, Lo at Chaos and I don't know where my friend found the Jah

Well, aside from countless guls at hellforge..
I once got lem from countess..i have been playing for abit a year heh..also a lem dropped at cow game but yeah, thats about it :) :jig:

I've been playing off and on for about 5 years, and the highest rune I've found is a Pul, which just happened last week doing a pit run. You will all bow before Shenk!

I have found an Ohm in a Baal Run and a Lo somewhere I can't particularly remember.
The Ohm, I traded away just before HR values plummeted way back in Ladder Season 1 and made myself a CoH with the Ist+Ber I got for it.
The Lo, I made into a superior Fortitude in Season 2. Still have it!

Aside from multiple mal, ists, and guls from forge, I've only found 2 high runes. One was a cham from nihlathak. One was in chaos today (ist).

My best so far is the Lo I found today in a Baal run. No idea how I ended up with it, it seemed like nobody else saw it because I just walked over and picked it up. Forts are nice :-)

mal in chaos...
quite lucky huh :)
Two times Mal from the Countess for me. And one Ist from the Hellforge, but that doesn't count.

I have being playing this game for years, the highest rune for me was a Mal
last ladder season, until yesterday :
When a zombie in andy's room droped a gul, and like 30 seconds later
an ohm droped from a council member in travincal.
I was looking at my inventory with disbelief seeing two legit HR from the same game.

The highest rune I found was a Vex.
My brother on the other hand was a lucky bastard and had a Zod drop on the ground in the River of Flame as he was making his way to the forge. But this was 2 years ago.

You are some lucky guys. In my career I have only one ist dropped. It was like a month ago in public diarun, I was killing Lord De Seis' minions and it dropped. There was only one bad thing, some low level leecher/grabber who took it in front of my eyes. I was very angry to him. Then I realized that this is only a game and I just say few curses and smilies instead of the normal "GIVE MY IST OR NOW KILLING!!1 I KILL EVERYONE!!"
this should be in topic "funniest moments on bnet". I was on public normal baalrun with my poison necro. _Ral_ rune dropped and I took it. There was one javazon in the game and he was using maphack. Then he started that "Give me my RAL!" -shoutings. "I don't lead if I don't get that ral!" We were doing just fine without him and then he started the funniest part: "Oh dudes, you're going wrong way. Give ral and I show the way." and we were already in WSK3 :) I didn't give him that and he said "I remember this" and leaved the game :) we all laughed at him

Wow, I guess I shouldn't complain ... some of you guys are relatively unlucky rune-wise.
I've found 2 Surs, one popped from a chest on my way to Hell Meph and one from a chest while doing a p8 LK run.
3 Lo's, one outside the entrance to the Countess ... the other two I don't remember offhand. Have the screenies somewhere.
I'll say that i've never found a Zod, Cham, Ber, Ohm or Jah. Found all the others.

My best monster drop would be a Mal from an oblivion knight in nightmare Chaos Sanctuary (just checked ATMA... one in 1.25 million :crazyeyes:), and an Um, Pul, Lem, and everything below that from Countess. From the forge I've gotten a Mal and a Pul.

2*Sur ~2years apart. The first one was dropped by some random zombie when I was on my way to kill hell Andy. The second one dropped in CS but I didn't see which monster dropped it.
As of now, I found one Vex back in my Bnet days in the River of Flame. I've also found another Vex while racking in 1.07 Lower Kurast.

iv never got a hr.. but iv had so many lower runes.. ists and such, iv had about 4 ists from countess this ladder, 2 ists from popping the courpses at andy, a mal from pits in a full baal game, and a gul from wsk, and plenty of other runes in the past.. but no hr ever :p
not that im bothered as iv had a few hrs in rune drops... and loads of hr's in item drops :D

i play single player and was SHOCKED when i found a cham rune in the 2nd level of the stony tomb. one of the lightning beetles in the same room as creeping feature dropped it. then right after that i found a mal rune from one of shenks minions! those were the first high runes ive ever found too!

Some months ago I found a Sur in sp in the Cow Level, yeah pot luck. Recently I got Gul from hellforge drop, but I guess it doesn´t count, since it´s easier to get a Gul from hellforge than from monsters.

I was fotunate enough to make a completely legit Enigma last season (Jah in the River of Flame, Ber from a champ ghost in Tower Level 5).
Just found an Ohm (Pit) about a week ago.
