View Full Version : Woe Barb Woes...plz flame me now!

Here is some of the crap I get after duels, most commonly duels from PKers trying to ambush me. Here is some of the crap they say:

- "OMG you beat me with that you are a HAXOR!" (why cuz I have 3400 life?)
- "CLEGGER! CLEGGER!" (I use a rare sharkskin glove?)
- "You need a better weapon now you newb!" (seems to be killing everything that you can't?)
- "OMG you must have 500 str!" (no I have 75)
- "OMG what damage bec is that? Yes it is a bec! I see it!" (no it's a halberd)
- "How can you expect to kill Hell Diablo with that?" (quickly!)

I get the same responses when my party member wants to see my weapon after my barb, not his maul/bhammer barb, is having no problem clearing out the Chaos Sanctuary/or anywhere in hell with 1 point in whirlwind.

Is it my fault that in Classic, that passive damage (open wounds and crushing blow) is way more powerful than the pure (status screen) physical damage caused by the best rare weapons and maxed attack skill?

This is my set-up at lvl 77 so far:

-20 pole mastery
-20 battle orders
-1 whirlwind (right clik,- no point of more ww, since my weapon damage is low)
-1 berserk (left clik, to kill them phys immunes, unless they are also magic immune)
-10+ natural resist so far (my resists are medium in hell)
-20 leap (for nice knockback and maneuvering.)
-1 battle cry (I thought I would use this but I don't)

-Howltusk (knock back and DtM)
-Woestave (every mod here is godly, requires 75 str and some dex, the rest can go to vita)
-Rare Sharkskin Glove with resists and mana leech
-Angellics combox2 (Attack Rate) or with one rare life leech ring
-Nightsmoke (DtM)
-Goblin Toe (crushing blow)
-Rattlecage (crushing blow)

Reverse Mana Leech? In Hell I noticed I was not leeching mana because I didn't do enough pure damage. Solution: Damage to Mana. I get hit one time and my mana is full again.

How the heck am I hurting anything with a 60 damage weapon and 1 pt ww? The 50% crushing blow kills 1/4 of monster life per hit, and I hit a wide range really fast. The knockback is funny because I can ww directly at a monster and keep smashing it back into my ww. Open wounds does a lot of damage per level over 8 seconds. I think I am around 2k total I but I haven't calculated recently. It is the finisher. I simply ww into a pack and they bleed to death as I ww the next pack.

Other cool stuff my halberd does besides open wounds is Freeze/shatter, reduce defence, blind target (negates howling from armor and helm), and slow.

My best friend from LoD saw my build and he was said, "That could never work in expansion. I don't know why it works now." Well, the concept does work in expansion too, it is simply magnified x100 because of better gear with same mods.

I just cannot understand why I see so many bhammer/maul-barbs running around killing themselves (literally in the Chaos Sanctuary).

Why did you put 20points into pole mastery?
I thought the damage of woestove was very low
even if you get 40% of double damage you dont gain much


this build seems to be pretty cool
Id gladly see it in game

DtM is indeed a interesting idea, but that still doesn't get you enough lifeleech. And you will need lifeleech to compensate for the life lost during mana aquisition.
And DtM will only work so long, because at some point, no matter how low your defence, the monsters just won't be able to hit you to 'give' you mana.

Personally, I did go the leech way, you can get enough manaleech, but you do need to max it all.

And a WoE barb would be quite novel, afaik, WoE is more often used as an abbriviation for Wall of Eyeless then for the Woestave.

Durability still gets annoying on my Woestave barb though, I carry 2 Woestaves and it still isn't enough.
