View Full Version : Upgrade eth HoZ or not?

I hope this is the right place to ask:

I have found an eth Herold of Zakarum 198ed.
Well, obviously it needs a Zod, but is it worth upgrading it?

Which pala would use an eth HoZ?

Any advise is greatly appreciated :smiley:

Well, i'm asking because the defense gain is not that big (with bad luck it's 0), upgrading mainly increases Smite damage, but str req too.

A smiter does care about smite damage, but how about the zealot? Would it be better for it to have lower str. req?

How isn't the defence gained big? It's going to be huge defence gained. There used to be a bug that ethereal exceptional armors upgraded didn't gain any defence but I'm pretty sure that bug's fixed now.

132 strength of an upped eth HoZ is nothing to cry about. Shouldn't be an issue unless you're extremely picky about stat points, but that's less of an issue for PvM characters. More strength means more damage in both the case of a Smiter and Zealot, which means it isn't entirely wasted.

A Zealot should make liberal use of Smite anyway, regardless of weapon, with Crushing Blow gear, as a means of faster boss dispatching.

An eth hoz with such a high ed% really deserves a zod. Upgrading it isn't a bad idea either.

Max defence on a gilded shield is 168 but its 169 for HoZ. For a Zakarum shield the lowest defence is 169, thus the shield can gain no defence at all.

i suggest, don't up it, because you'll need more str if u up it (power means nothing to a deadman, give your points to vit), if you want more defense (i think you're using holy shield) give 1 point to defiance (no prereq) it has. you will have great defense bonus because of your +skill items wil give you 5-6 defiance minimum! i think so...sorry for bad eng..:)

Most people dont run a defiance aura, but defiance is a synergy to holt shield which they do run. Synergies dont benefit from +skills so you would only benefit from the 1 skill point you put in defiance.

I would sell the shield as is. The stats are great and appeal to someone who is fanatical about things like that. PvPrs would benrfit from this and would pay a premium.

Otherwise, there is not much difference between this shield and one with less godly stats in PvM. I doubt that you would notice the difference, except that you would have a bunch of high runes in your pocket.
