I lost my LOD cd so i just play classic. I was planning to go into Lod once I found the cd so i started a meteorber. I have never seen a meteorber in classic because the items are significantly worse and don't provide all the godly attributes that Lod items have. But either way is it still possible to make a good meteorber in classic???? Mine is level 78 and is kind of weak. any suggestions?

It is going to be very difficult for you without the high amount of plus skills found in LOD. I suggest getting as many plus skill points as possible while maintaining life, block, and resistances. So maybe a hell plauge as a weapon, sigs for shield, then get a tarn and the rest of your set up fcr and resist should be key? Also if you're just waiting to play LOD, then group play shouldn't be too bad?

Classic is more chalenging cause you have to make due with less. So you actually have to think about skill and stat choices, because you won't have a vast library of items to compensate for misplaced points. You will have to tread carefully and use strategy to defeat monsters and other foes. You might like it so much you'll stay. In any case, 78 is a good level and I do hope you enjoy your meteorber. Even though she won't do the same damage as in LoD, she should still be able to breeze trough most of the game.
Since you state she seems weak, does that mean she can kill, just not as fast as you expected ? Please tell us how you build her, your views while you where leveling her, where you feel she has shortcommings and where she does work well. And tell us why you put what stats where if you would. Even though you probably have plenty of experience in LoD, taking on a Meteorber as a first classic char is commendable. I'm sure there are more people here eager to read about the journey that brought you to 78.

I think the main reason that Meteorb doesn't work well in Classic is that you can't depend upon having a merc who can tank for you. Without one, then you end up getting chased by monsters and the Meteors are very hard to aim when you are running around, especially compared to having a nice sturdy LoD well-equipped A2 merc on whom you can just rain meteors.

The most comparable build in Classic I think is a Blizzballer, in terms of overall versatility PvM and MF. As mentioned above, skill points and +skills are scarcer in Classic than in LoD and Blizzball works well, at least for me.

My Classic Blizzballers are different than my LoD Blizzballers in that I don't invest in Meteor at all in Classic. In LoD, the typical Blizzballer plan is:

normal monsters: timered Blizzard + untimered Fireball
cold immunes: timered Meteors + untimered Fireball
fire immunes: timered Blizzard + untimered Glacial Spike

In Classic, I forget about Meteor (and save the points in Firewall and Blaze) and just put points in Fireball, Firebolt and Fire Mastery. So for cold immunes in Classic for me, it's just fireballs alone.

probably won't help but a while ago my friend got to 94 with one way back before even the cast delays maybe.. it was pure pvm, dunno what your plans for it are but i would just go for the basic 70 fcr, shard and mage 2 soj eventually for mana you should be able to get around 800 without too much raw stats (with the items) the best fhr/life/resists setup you can make for cs runs, really rape left seal with it, frost nova mob, lay quick mets and open seal and just tele around the meteors orbing and if you can tank some hits you can keep the mob together easier and closer around the meteors. If you have good teleport skill, decent items and decent bo/party etc. you can definately make it work.

When cows were good for exp meteors were good for clearing cow levels saw a few 90+ sorcs then exping purely in cows. As back then didnt need synergies to improve damage it was all done on casting speed on orb, spam orb as fast as possible with lots of mana (needed high mana build back then), so lots of stats left to invest in a secondary skill. Although difficult to max 2 skills + masteries + good level of static and warmth.

Meteorb isn't a good build on classic (IMO it sucks on LoD too), go for pure orb, blizz, or fireball/meteor, though fire is weaker PvM. Orb is better if you want to pump static, teleport, es, or other skills, though that will work with blizz PvM, and es/fire sorcs are difficult to make and pretty much useless PvM anyway.

You are thinking of .09 and then orb was hardly ever used in cows it was just Nova...
