exile shield?

hi,

i want to make a zeal/fanaticus that can handle most hell areas as well as taking out bosses with 1pt into smite and maybe a litle change of items.

anyway i want to make a exile shield but i wouldnt know in what shield to make it, im also looking at str req. as well as smite dmg (if it matters) and def.
any idea wich would be best?

im also using a grief Ba and fortitude or coh, not really sure about wich one.
btw, where would i best get my ias from for reaching the max fps? (with max zeal & fana and 30-40 ias from grief, wich means i need 20 to 30 ias)

Str. req for vortex is 148 actually (138 when eth). Unless you plan to pvp, avoid the vortex and use a sacred targe or a sacred rondache. You ll get max block easier with these.

Smite average damage is the same for all Elite Paladin shields (except for Sacred Rondache which has +0.5 average base damage). Vortex has the highest defense, but as kingdryland said, you sacrifice block rate and you'll have to pump more points into Dexterity (and possibly Strength depending on the rest of your gear).

I would stick with Fortitude, unless you're in dire need of Resists.

As far as I know, most Zealot players will suggest 20%IAS from gloves and sometimes 20% from Highlord's at the sacrifice of Angelics. However if you don't plan on PvPing, you won't need Angelics anyway.

exile eth vortex is far better because you get much more defense from it (several thousand)
the extra block on targe/rondache will only save you about 15 dexterity points (assuming you have high HS and at level 90)

Vortex has higher str requirements, higher level requirements, lower % block,ridiculous price and only higher defense that is useless in pvm. Makes absolutely no sense to make one for pvm, simple as that.
