Strange monsters in A5

I just bought LOD, and made an assassin. I played in sigle player first to understand the skills and the new act. But after some time playing, when I went to act 5, there where a lot of strange monsters, that I think shouldn't be there, like quill rats, burning undead archers, black souls and serpent magus... Also Baal had a different blue color...

What happened to my game? It is happening in online games too, and I'm getting worried about it...

Those are the new "guest" monsters.

Well, not so new anyways.

They are stronger versions of monsters found in earlier acts. They were introduced in patch 1.10 LOD, I think.

Am I right in guessing you played SP version right out of the box? Did a patch downlaoad and install when you tried to play online?

The current LOD version 1.11 has some big changes and differences when compared to the out of the box versions of Classic and LOD.

Basically blizzard removed Act5 monsters and introduced monsters from act3 and 4 monsters. You can often go through worldstone and wonder if you are back in act4 with all the oblivion knights, or if your in act3 because of all the souls.

The only act5 that has normal act5 monsters is the Normal Difficulty version. Both Nightmare and Hell versions have guest monsters.
