socketed weapons

regarding socketed weapons - which socketed type of weapons are most desired by people?

for example - i know the 4-socketed monarch is very much wanted in order to make the spirit shield.
another example being the dark shroud or archon plate for the enigma.

so, i was wondering if people could list the type of socketed weapons people would use for the following runewords.

cta - 5 socket weapon. in particular for a sorc.
ebotd - 6 socket weapon. i know etheral is preferred if going to be used on merc.
faith - 4 socket bow - which bow is preferred?
infinitiy & insight - 4 socket polearm.
Last wish - 5 socket sword

and any other common runewords.

ebotd - 6 socket weapon. i know etheral is preferred if going to be used on merc. : ALWAYS use etheral items it have a zod in it!!! 6os eth collossus blade / berzerker axe / war pike / thunder maul / sometimes in 6os phaseblade but real rare


faith - 4 socket bow - which bow is preferred? : Grand matron bow and matriarchale bow / also crusader bow for merc faith users


infinitiy & insight - 4 socket polearm. : 4 socket etheral elite polearms collosus voulge / cryptic axe / thresher also (and rarely) regular 4os scythe


Last wish - 5 socket sword : actually last wish is a 6os runeword so 6os berzerker axe and 6os phase blade


Grief - 5socket sword/axe : 5os berzerker axe / 5os phaseblade

Heart of the oak - 4 socket mace : 4os flail

Almost every elite armor version 3os or 4os, depending on perfection of base defense or superior those can trade very nicely. Keep heavy armor in stock too some barb dueller dont care about weigth of armor penalty and just want the high def.


Every elite paladin shield 3os or 4os with base resist 35% +
Etheral paly shield with high res too 4os to make eexile
Paly shield with high %enhance damage and attack rating are also wanted for dueler

Death: The ultimate secondary weapon for a frenzy barb. 5 socket ethereal berserker axe or colossus blade. The poor man's choice are ethereal ettin axes and colossus swords. They are slower, but Larzuk will add 5 sockets to them, so you just have to find an unsocketed one instead of one with the correct number of sockets.

Obedience: 5 socket polearm

Runewords with self repair or indestructibility or those meant for mercs should be made in ethereal weapons. Expensive runewords should be made in elite items only (if the higher damage is actually needed, so it doesn't make sense to make a caster runeword like HotO in a scourge) while e.g. Insight in a normal or exceptional polearm is very useful for leveling. Your merc will be better at killing than yourself for some time and for the aura is just wonderful for casters, in particular at low levels.
