Hii, ive been playing D2 for about 3 years now. just recently my friend got me banned for maphacks. so i thought i was banned for good after i check back about 3 months later. so i uninstalled diablo 2 from my computer, and i just re-installed it about an hour ago. i didnt install lord of destruction thought, cuz i couldnt find the cd key for it. well anyway, i double click the shortcut and try starting it like usual. then the black screen comes up, but then goes away and returns me back to the windows menu thing. ive tryed restarting my computer but that did nothing. i have no idea what the problem is. any help would be greatly appreciated.

sp should still work even though your banned from bnet
do you have the latest patch, 1.11b
and did you run d2vidtest, try setting it to ddraw(2d)
and run dxdiag, and run the d3d and ddraw tests on the video page

well im not banned anymore. i just played it today at a friends house.but the problem is that i cant run the application. it just plain wont start up.

Still.. even with a banned cdkey, the application should still start up. the cd key gets banned from battlenet

Maybe its some kind of reading error. Try it with a different CD.

Hmmm ...9.9/10 times when someone says that someone else got them banned for maphack, it's usually the user that got themself banned for maphack.

Maybe they were playing at a Internet place (Cafe), where you'll never know if they use 3rd party programs. But then again.... :rolleyes: you never know if they'll keylog and jack your account.
