I made an Obedience in a Thresher and am trying to decide what to do with it. What builds would benefit the most from its use(character or even on a merc)? Are there any that almost work(fireclaw bear, I'd guess), but just don't quite cut it?
I'm thinking to try a build that takes advantage of the -fire resistance.
Any ideas are appreciated.

I think it's a superb merc weapon, for those characters who don't need Insight or Infinity and who don't want Reaper's Toll to cast decrepify all the time, like my bowazon who benefits more from Amp cast by Atma's Scarab.
With no IAS, most melee builds tend to stay away from it- there are two builds, however, that really couldn't care about a weapon's speed. Obedience is a wonderful weapon for Chargers and Leap Attack Barbs, since the slow speed doesn't bother them and since they *love* the huge ED% (they have so much off-weapon ED that they adore high-damage weapons).
Other than those two, Obedience is rarely one of the best character weapon choices out there. It makes a great merc weapon, though, and is a really good switch weapon, too. Switch to it, kill monsters until the Enchant triggers, and then switch back- it's sort of like a Demon Limb, except cheaper to repair.

Like Krischan said, it's a superb weapon for an Act 2 merc. It can also work for melee builds who are able to get some IAS from non-weapon sources. I once made a zealot (with charge as a second attack) using one of those, and he did fairly well.

Thanks for the input. Bummer I can't take full advantage of its stats(especially the -fire resistance), and I don't think I'll be able to get enough off-weapon ias(for it to be worth it) to make attacking fast enough. I'll probably put it on my friends hammerdin's merc, or my throwbarb's. Thanks.

It was fairly easy with my Pally. According to the weapon speed calculator, you'd need only 20 IAS (assuming maxed fanat. 60 without fanat.) for the maximum zeal speed of 6 fpa using a thresher. Sure, there are faster things, but I never felt it to be too slow.

Andarial's Visage with Ral (Crown of Thieves at lower levels) and the Treachery runeword will add lots of leech, IAS and res from the armor's chance to cast fade. I suggest to make Obedience in a thresher.
