View Full Version : Is Zeal bugged?

Okay maybe I'm just retarded, but this is seriously starting to piss me off.

Sometimes, when I use Zeal, the extra hits do not activate. In fact I don't think Zeal activates at all. I'll be Zealing my way through a mob, and at random I use it on one monster... and I strike once. Only once. Slightly slower too -- As if I'm using a standard melee attack.

I am successfully hitting the monster. And my strike is not delivering the killing blow. And I have enough mana for Zeal. And most of the time there of no lag when this occurs. But for some reason, once this occurs, on that ONE monster alone, Zeal will not activate. If I move to a different monster Zeal works fine.

For the record Zeal is at level 12 right now, more than enough points to make sure it should be hitting 5 times. Come to think of it this skill should NOT be hitting less than twice.

Anyone know what's going on here?

This seems like the melee range / melee attack thing on Leap Attack where if you're too close it just performs a melee attack, but I don't see how range could affect this issue when Zeal and melee attack should be working at the same range...

This happens to me too, and I think it does have to do with range... Most of the time that I've noticed this happening has been when the monster is moving away from me, either fleeing, or moving to engage another player... Hopefully someone with more insight will chime in here...

What is the range of the weapon you are Zealing with?

Zeal is bugged with range 1 weapons. Your pally has to be standing quite close to monsters for Zeal to activate with range 1 weapons. If you are standing a little away from the monster, your pally will only perform the first attack without the four faster follow-up attacks.

The only way to rectify this as far as I know is to re-position your pally, i.e. get closer to the monster you are attacking. This should ensure you perform the full five attacks.

I've been using scepters when this "bug" happens. Just played a bit more and this has now happened:

- Against a monster who was stationary, facing me
- Against multiple monsters in a row

Both when I was practically in their face.

This may be a display issue, because I am hearing the Paladin strike the monster, but the only hit graphics showing up are my life and mana leech graphics... I don't do any elemental damage at the moment so I'll see if I can get some fire damage or something to see if I'm not actually hitting at all, and it's just playing the sound for some reason.

I doubt this will help any though, because normally when Zeal misses, my Paladin will just stand there swinging like a madman. With this issue he swings once, and only once.

Are you experiencing any lag? I've noticed that lag does effect this at times... Sometimes, I sit there and zeal through the lag, other times I just do a one swing humdrum boring ole melee attack until the lag subsides...

As far as I know there wasn't any lag... but Bnet has been acting up lately.

I'm going to try switching to a different weapon to see if this persists. What one-hand weapons have more range than a scepter? I'm using a War Axe right now.

http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/items/normal/axes.shtml you can see the range of your weapon under the header Range. In this case your axe has range 3. For 1 handers thats max.

There is also a bug where it doesn't hit certain points on the compass. IE it only hits North, South, East, and West, or something like that.
