Sorry I don't know Europe and can't help you with hangouts there, but an Orb + Static sorc is a great MF/general purpose player. Getting to level 30 is a bit annoying. Getting Enchanted by a good enchantress would speed that along real quickly, otherwise it's pretty slow going as you will want to hoard your skill points for Orb and Cold Mastery investment. Playing with a friendly cooperative party can make those first levels go by pretty quickly, if you are lucky enough to find one!
Well for starters there is the channel op d2c-cs, where some ppl gathér to make fast cs runs. Other than that I dont know.. But if you are ladder too I guess I can help you out a bit.. just give me a msg here or *bod-monze on bnet :wink3:
Personally, I also started out with a MF orber but now she is just another mule since blizz is much better for MF IMO. (easy to do andy and meph on hell) There should be a few good guides on how to make one of those in the guides/build stickies here.

If you are on non-ladder, I can gib you a hand or an ench.

About question #1
I don't know where other people on Euro 'hang out', but I don't even go into the channels anymore because of those spambots. I just join games and talk there if needed.
Most of the below will probably be quite farmiliar to you, I'm just writing the extended version for people who do not know.
Indeed, Orb for general MF'ing is great, cause you can get full Orb+syn+Mastery and full teleport at level 73-ish iirc. Then get a point in static and find yourself another lightning kill spell. On my orber I went for Nova, which for me, is still the best option.
About question #2
Blood More and Cold plains, gets you to 5 or 6 quite fast depending on the number of players in the game.(naturally they don't have to be doing the same as you, if they are all in act2, you can level just as easily just swinging your staff at the monsters)
Then fight your way to Andy, you should be level 12-ish by the time you get there.
You will probably need some help with Andy, just find and join a game with other people doing the quest if all else fails.
Get some more levels in the Sewers and at level 15 slap on a Ravenclaw and aquire a ench. This should get you up to full act 2 staff in no time and into the acrane sanctuary at level 18 or so. clear the whole of the acrane if you get a chance, that should get you level 20 or 21 in about 2 sides of acrane.
Then some norm cowgames with raven and ench. Don't forget to use your Glacial spike every now and then. No need to put more then 1 point in it, but just use it to freeze groups of enemies so you can pick them off.
well i looked up this guide http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=403154 and it seemed doable without any gear at all in the begining.
yes, the 1st 30 lvls are pain in the *** without any gear (was so simple in lod with merc  )
@ Monzee i'dd appriciate some help, my acc is *Lippi-C hope to hear something from you
@ WarlockCC well i went ladder way, seemed somehow more tempting, but all the tips are sertainly welcome! thnx
@ purplelocust only problem there is that i dont know anyone who plays classic, yet. but seems to me there are friendly people around willing to help me to get started.
also i tought one more question.. what should i keep if i find something? i dont have any clue about what items are valued in classic. mainly gems/uniq/sets? rares seem quite obious to me.
its amazing how differend classic is from lod, even tho its the same game!
thank you all from the tips! and if you have any more i'dd be more than happy to hear them!

Well as to what to keep most uniqs are garbage except for a coveted few. Of course the Soj, its the staple of classic. Gulls, Silk of the victor, High MF tarn Helms and Gold Skins are all about equal value give or take and should be kept. Personaly I keep a sigs set and an angelic set, (Sigs is great for new chars as you know, and angelic is amazing for any new character wanting to MF and if you ever build an MF barb it is the set you will be wearing into Hell CS...
As for rares I think you should get an Idea of the mods you will be looking for. On armors keep if they have fhr, Life, and two different kidns of resi. Shileds look for fhr high block and priz resi, same idea for helms and so on and so forth.

A good basic intro to what is valuable in Classic is in this old Classic Ladder Price Guide thread (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=378794).
For rares, probably a good way of getting at least an idea is to look at some of the discussion in the Item Evaluation Thread.
