Im thinking of making a throwbarb for either LLD or duels around level 35-40

I have some problems with picking the weapons and gear

What type of javelins should I use? There are few methinks (apparently the ones with highest damage.. but what are their requirements and where can I buy them)

How much IAS do I need to throw "a line of javelins" (it is possible)

I was thinking of two routes:
30ias from death's + 20ias from twitch (FAST)
30ias from death's + boneflesh (damage from open wounds) - perhaps I could go sigons if deciding on using boneflesh
The third option would be cleglaw's gloves + goldwrap - just 10IAS

would the second option be fast enough?
(I have no other idea how to get IAS, apart from selecting some sort of javelins)

boots = goblins? or faster run

amulet+rings = angelics (unfortunately, because Id rather use etlich), unless AR is not needed? But I think I need AR

What about helmet? Biggin's Bonnet for more damage (I feel the damage might be still pathetic) or Howltusk?

What about skill distribution? Mastery first, or double throw?

I tried it before... throwing knifes (the ones you buy at nm where they have higher damage but higher req) with max possible ias and knockback at lvl 24 doesn't work to well when dueling... unless you have chant.

**edit**
throwing knifes are so much faster.

Maybe use swordback hold for the 50% open wounds...but only if you're going for jav/shield setup.
About point distribution, mastery adds damage, attack rating and critical hit. Double throw only adds AR. So If your damage is bad (which by the sounds of it, probably will be) You'll need more points in Mastery rather than Dthrow. And if your using angelics for the AR you probably won't be needing many points in Dthrow at all. If I was making a throwbarb at lvl 40 I would max mastery, as many points in battle orders as possible, then the rest in shout/Dthrow.
And just another thing...lvl 40 is not really LLD. I would consider from lvl's 9-30 to be the range of levels for LLD.

Classic throw barbs just don't really work with the lack of Magic/Rare/Unique throw weapons.

I can show you my old one, Drop, but like Steve typed, they don't really work.
At a lower level, I've seen one amusing at level 28-ish in 1.09 or earlier, but in 1.10 I can't imagine them doing any damage.
Though I can see one annoying a nec with it perhaps, I doubt my throwbarb would do anything against a nec that moves rather then stand there and eat the javs.
You might try to doublethrow knives with CB and OW on, but that probably still loses out to a zon with Strafe (same liniar attack pattern) and definately to a zon using GA. By losing out I mean the zon's would be move effective and faster.

without chant...throwbarbs suck since .09 when you could get rare thrown weapons

wow I wasnt aware of that. Would that mean that there could be some rare throwing weapons on NL atm?
