sudden start up problem with lod

i just installed a new gfx card, and everything went fine with it untill this
morning: when i start diabloII, i get the 2 first cinematics(the blizzard
logo's) and then instead of showing me the main menu, my screen is just black.
the sound still plays and i can click on buttons(i hear the sound but cant see
them). i tried installing the latest nvidia drivers, 2D and D3D mode, but to no
avail. only thing i changed since yesterday is that i hooked my tv on as a
second screen to watch a movie.
i put all the settings back to how they were, but still nothing.
reinstalling isnt an option at this time, coz my d2 cd's are at home, only have lod here. ill try one of the next days.

Are you not getting any error messages at all when running the vid test?

You can try starting up in windowed mode (add -w to the shortcut) and see if that works.

Lastly, are you using the latest non-beta drivers?
Just stay away from the betadrivers completely, they often cause trouble.

dont get any error messages no.
and got the last whql nvidia drivers, lod worked with em before, with the new card(gf6200) ill try windowed and let u know what happened ;)

*edit: windowed works; so ill play like that untill i can reinstall or any other suggestions come in :)

and another thing: i reinstalled windows on this pc, without formatting, so i cant use uninstall for D2. could there be any problems with the registry if i just delete the d2 folder and reinstall (not removing anything from the registry)?

run dxdiag and see if you have any problems running the ddraw and d3d tests

also check the nvidia d3d settings display tab in your video settings
right click on your desktop --> properties --> settings tab --> advanced button --> nvidia tab --> select direct3d on the flyout --> restore defaults button
