First real PvP char, Bone Nec or ES sorc?

I haven't done any serious PvP since about 2000, Played EQ for about 5 years then came back to D2 about 6 months ago.

Been procrastinating for a month or 2 about what to build to enter some pub dueling etc, not having the resources to equip a half decent pvp char was the main holdup.

Now I have gathered enough wealth and gear to make a semi decent PvP char and was considering either a Bone Nec or ES Blizz or Orb Sorc.

I have read the guides here and have no problem making either, missing a few Cold GC's but can trade of PnB's if I end up going sorc route.

Just looking for some input/advice on the strengths and weaknesses of each build and which is better for all round pubs etc and which can get by better without the absolute perfect gear setup.

Feel free to add any information that might help me with this decision.

Seconded. Any sorc needs stupid amounts of wealth to be able to fare against anyone who uses over max resist and absorb... and even then, there are times that you can't do anything about it.

A nice ES blizz sorc is so sexy though.

You can make (I know I did :D) a fairly welfare ES/fb sorc, probably for cheaper than a bone nec. The key part is, you don't need enigma with a sorc - so you can spend that bit of funds elsewhere. Mine used a hoto, viper, spirit, two sojs, frostburns, and a +9 es (self-made) staff on switch. The rest of the gear consisted of stuff to bring her resists/FHR up, a bunch of lousy mana/life GCs I had lying around, and a pally torch+anni.

She was sorbable, but had the fastest teleport I've ever played with and there was something... fun about pumping out a whole bunch of fireballs per second. Probably not as effective as a bone nec that can't be sorbed and has bone prison+IM+decrep+clay golem, but still damn fun.

vouche for bone nec, these can be put together fairly cheaply and still be extremely effective vs everything were as even a fully well equiped sorc has troubles with absorb + high max res let alone a welfare fireball sorc..

noone can resist bone spells, they take it and there is nothing they can do about it.... frozen sorb however :wink:

Bonemancers are much more versatile duelers than ES/Cold sorcs. Regardless of cost, make boner if you're 50/50.
