Funnest PVP Build

Hokay, I think I've come to realise that on the whole, there's no single build in D2 that can handle anything. There's always counters and bad matchups... More importantly, I've realised that while the bad matchups can be reduced and countered by hybridizing the build, a hybrid is kinda like a swiss army knife: it can do many, many things, but try to kill a bear with it and you're in trouble.

Point is, I realised I should select a character that amuses me and stick with it. Seeing as how I've played a lotta fun builds that's no easy task, so I'm gonna troll the forums to see what comes up. :)

The criteria: the build should have good replayability, either through being hard to master like a WWsin/BvC/mage/curse-heavy nec, or just being exilirating/amusing like a charger. Preferably, it shouldn't be too common (yawn, enigma/hoto/mara hammernub) but I'm not going to harry you on that.

In short, what's the must fun you've had PvPing in D2?

Haven't played pvp that much.. but I have made a pvp pala that uses an eBOTD archon staff. Does very nice damage and I built it in such a way that it can kill most sorcs (there are of course the godly exceptions).

Nothing more amusing then seeing so and so slain by you 20 seconds after you lay an invisible hammer and they run into it and flip. Also, what GG's a desynch hdin?? A better desynch hdin is about it, so increase your skill level and desynch hdin rapes.

you get props from everybody , and it dishes out some high a*$ damage

Any effective builds that can be even more effective with skills, like Mage, T/V, BvC, WW/Trap/Kicksin, etc. etc.

i just completed a fully synergized wof trap sin with ww/ kick option. it works very nicely even though im not finished and with gear switches i have a couple different options on how i duel. i usually dont get bored with her and she does very decent in pubs.

this build is probably one of the cheaper to build as well since pally and barb items have gone crazy high in prices recently.

My funnest PvP builds?

My LLD Zealot (Level 18 and OWNS!)
My Ex-Trapper (Level 78 and OWNED!)
My Ex-Charger (LEvel 76 and OWNED!)

Reason for Trapper and Charger being deleted; Trapper was messed up with stat points and I never got round to remaking.
Charger caused way too much lag, I could charge into someone then poof back in town, I could charge into town and poof back being WW'ed, I could DIE in town then go find my body out in the blood Moor, it was so ***... 22k with a BOTD CB was OWNAGE though... If I had War Pike it would of been even better.

Also don't take my opinions seriously, experiment and see what you like, I hear Javazons are pretty decent and fun. Good luck with whatever you make and I hope to hear from you soon. :P

I don't know. Killing waaaay too many people at once with a desynch Hammerdin was kind of boring for me. BvC is the funniest for me.

auradin is funniest ive tried, kicksin didnt work out so good, barb works fine but not as fun as aura

Nothing more funny then punching a barb in the face with a sorc and seeing him die in 1-3 hits. Or teleing behind a fb sorc and killing her with a single punch. Also nothing more humiliating then killing any char with a meleesorc.
I been playing 1 a long time and yes you grow better with it after time.

Already mentioned is my fuzzydodger guide, although the longer dodge animation can get quite annoying vs any spamchar, ranging from fb sorc to trapsins. If you would make her pure for duelling barbs some duels can take up to 10 minutes. If you get really high-end equip/charms and enough frw, prebuff, absorb equip etc this will be a pretty powerfull allround dueller vs all chars except smiters, windies. Don't start it if you ain't rich. Fact is you only walk up to people and smack them in their face, so the replayability only lies in the uniqueness of the build.

A build that's hard to master but if you master it can get pretty good is a firedruid (fissure/volcano/armageddon). unless people are going to absorb you wich is quite easily done. It's 1 of the builds with best replayability since you really will have to learn to deal with all the timers and make every hit count. It's also funny for the towntard invisible fissures....

Xenons novaguide is also pretty funny. It really kills nice until you run into people that stack enough res or 95% es sorcs, or good cyclone druids.

I also looked with interest at the sidewinder build (amazon), although i never tried it.

Hybrid sin, easy to bm with and i haven't seen a decent one in ages meaning that they are quite rare.

1st: wolf (teh best char :> :D, very fun and isnt a bad dueler, as many ppl's think)

Auradins, melee soso's (very hard to play i tried one but very izi owned by other chars), nova sorc,poisoner java, summoner nec, poisoner nec,superfast Wolfbarb,singer,kicksin,desynchdin...

Some choices :D

Valkazon or Plaguezon gets my vote. The former kinda has to abuse Slow Missiles to stay alive, but it's funny as hell when your valk gets a kill. The latter is pretty much gold all around, especially vs. ES Sorcs. They die pretty fast....

Ahhh this is my specialty.

I got only one "real" (by real I mean regarded as others as a cookie cutter build that can be accepted to work) pvp char in my bone necro and another 7 "fun" chars.

They are

Fire/bear druid shaman: Pretty freaking powerful once u get the hang of it

Fury/Rabies wolf: He only really has problems against high def smiters

Infinity weilding nova sorc: Think of it as a warcry barb but with more range and damage.

Plauge/CS zon: Again only really has problem against smiters.

Poison necro: Tears melee apart, but loses to high fcr sorcs

Kuko LLD pally: Probably the funniest, ppl have no idea how they died.

and a LLD sin: I'm really getting into LLD =)

Bowassa, any char with a widowmaker can kill... a char with 4k Venom is included. Also the Shadow Master can kill elemental attackers on it's own (yes I've seen it take out a lvl 89 javazon and force a lvl 91 sorc to tele into town to survive... (vs really weak casters all you need to do is Psychic Hammer off-screen to make the Master focus her attention to them)

Weak against aggressive players though, but if you go the trapper hybrid route (which I didn't since I don't like trappers) I guessyou could handle those alot better aswell.

Plague/cs, mine has roughly 83k plague, 5k cs, cta matri on switch, 3.4k life (can get almost 4k for certain duels), highest ias bp for throws and for cs, max res with some stack AND to cake it all over 120 frw and 68% fcr bp teleport.

Funnest char for me is still a wwsin.

Make any Character-only themed character, like a Natalya Assasin, or a Griswold Paladin. You'd be surprised how tough these characters can be, just duel my Natsin on USEast Non Ladder ;)

I'm quite sure bow/hammer can work, BvCs however tend to be aggressive where Guided arrow works best against defensive off-screen targets. my bowassa has often been surprised by smiter picking up a widowmaker firing back at me and their fanta+OW combo hurts :azn:

Easy to BM with? Absorb and antidotes can pretty much screw a hybridsin against a good melee.

I'd go with hybrid sin any way though, endless fun as far as I'm concerned.

I currently have... a fury/rabies wolf, a light trap/wwsin, and a vanquisher- hybrid smite/hammer with a nice charge. First two are East NL, Vanq I have a PvM on NL and a dueler on East L. All are endless fun to play, though the wolf needs a bit more gear, and the trapsin gets absorbed a lot. The vanq just needs some 20 lifers, he is a lot of fun to play.

oh ya fun i like fun, lota fun when i go in duel games with my hdin whos name is killer_dhammer and then ppl expect me to hammer then all of a sudden i charge up and smite them down (or they just die from the charge) :smile:

but anyways i pretty much like all my pvp chars:
es nova infinity sorc, mageslayer kicksin, fury/raby wolf, barb vs. all, my "HDIN"(he is actually pure hdin build =D), and ww/trapper (still need to be lvled to use gears)

Names are always fun :D My hammer/smite was called "Fallen", which made for some fun "lol wtf?" comments. Once, there was even a "Fallen was slain by Fallen" message (curse you poison) and converting some Fallen friends, BOing them, and making people go "what?!" was entertaining.

I think my next character will be called arrowsPEWPEW, regardless of whether or not he or she ever fires anything remotely close to arrows.

As for wolves: I had a 4.4K life (with oak) rabies druid with no shapeshift GCs and unimpressive FHR, and he did abominably bad. Using an ebotd zerker, his fury was more effective than the rabies... without 20 points in fury. Smiters smote me mightily. I don't want to even talk about bone prison ='( Is that because of his lack of GCs/lousy gear? (I used Smoke (or whatever that 50 res cheap runeword is) and a magic res ammy to reach max resists.) A, say, trapper with comparable gear would do way better - do feral druids suck with poor gear, but get exponentially better as more funds are poured in?

also if you name a non-hammer class something like "xXxGosu_hammerxXx" you can setup a lvl 1 hammer field and people will avoid it at all costs preparing to get 1hitkod should they enter it... Until they find out what class you really are (by which time they're supposed to be dead dammit!)

Naming your character a B.Net name like that, would of course confuse folks initially, but one would hope they would figure it out...

xXxGosu_HammerxXx would be an ungodly sight when you log in - my hand would be moving to the delete button everytime. It would contaminate your account... :(

Pure Bear summoner. Unbelievably fun, whether you're the type to park in town and cast it out there on the other folks or love running around shockwaving with your bear friend like me. Plus, it can 1-hit-KO just about anyone.

The most fun I've ever had would by far be a nova sorc. I enjoyed it back in .09, and I love it now (possibly even more because of everybody saying "z0mg u carry infinity u r t3h suck" and then getting owned in 1 hit by ts. Close behind that would probably be a bear melee sorc, because they are really fun, and have massive damage.

i like dexazon.. nice dmg (mine has over 7.4k pure ga dmg with possibility to get more) and it's a fun char. it has some disadvantage like items cost alot if u want a nice one + low life so u need to kill everything before they attack u ( this is no problem if u are good ^^ )

The best most fun build 4 pvp IMO would hav to b the bowadin with a side of foh in it. made it myself with so much poison damage u would never loose cuz no poison absorb makes this char make the pvp bowazon a run for her money no doubt. Its weapon of course is the greatest bow ever made "The Widowmaker."

Druid with points in Grizzly Bear and just mad +summoning skills. The bear really packs a punch with enough points into it and synergies. And you can summon the bear outside while staying in town. VERY cheesy.
