View Full Version : Poison-zon's bad matchups...
So I had this poison jav zon, which was kinda fun... Needed some sort of damage skill to give me something to do other than endlessly flee after I poisoned, but was still fun.
Problem: bad matchups. Most importantly, smiters. Namelocking charge seems to outdamage poison, even with max DR/max block/a bunch of evade.
How do I counter that? Does lightning bolt + knockback work? If so, do I need high damage and at how many frames should I be throwing?

Psn then GA is effective vs. casters.
Probably not namelock Charge but Charg + Smite + Smite + Smite.
Its uber hard to counter such a beastly offense with a zon. LF + KB is probably your best bet. You cannot count on KB to stop a Smiter from advancing towards you, or any other melee opponent for that matter. Walk + LF, Walk + LF. If your poison usually gets em to very low life, you will easily be able to kill this way.
I have not made a pure javazon before, so no clue on the dmg / speed. I can tell you I did about 4.3k with pt 1 LF on a Bower's switch ETitan at minimum frames, but that is because I had stacked %ED / +max dmg / %ias items.
I would imagine the problem would be you being able to get a successful hit on the paly, especially if he's a desyncher, or even if you do how long you can survive till the psn reduces his life gradually, low enough for consider LF a good killing skill.

make sure you're walking and stop to lf when he gets close would be my only advice, and thats mostly from dueling my friend who uses a poison zon.
Walk + LF indeed. It's gambling though. Does your evade trigger often enough?

smite and charge are uninterruptible so knock back wouldnt work , no?

well charge is uninteruptable true, but walking is what Ive seen poison amazons do with smiters and in my limited experiences with an ss druid I know that it helps quite a bit to walk against smiters when you are trying to not get hit.
Hitting the smiter with poison jav isn't a problem: desynch or not charge WILL cross a poison trail since I can deny a huge area. Plague jav also hits: charge/smite are melee, if I run through plague clouds while they beat on me they get poisoned. The problem is that charge seems to outdamage poison (smite doesn't really come into it much since I keep walking away.) Looks like I'll need to test LB/LF.
I should try using teleport with that. Ideally, teleport behind a puddle when they're knocked back + lb more... Ideally.
Another question, should I go for jav GCs (non-lifers, or eventually cheap lifers) or 20 life charms? Jav GCs would increase my damage/second by about 60-65%, while 25 lifers would increase life by about 30%-ish... Major difference, but it's not like they're poisoned the entire time, and it's tempting to go for a tank build that rivals the beefiest barbarian. (Defense rating aside, most of the nasty things bypass that anyways.)
With jav GCs I could go poison/CS, with anything from a 0-2.5K to 0-4K 11 bolt charged strike. Though it'd get totally negated by thundergod's... (60 damage negated/.15*6 = 2.4K PvP negation)
Does farcast CS transfer knock back? I've never seen it do so, though most of the stuff I've seen one hit kills and there's no real reason for javazons to use it...
