Hi,

I play an all lightning sorc who has a merc who carries Infinity. That being said I would like to try a cold-fire dual element sorc, don't get me wrong I don't have anything wrong with lightning but I just can't hit the 117% fcr with my gear (only hit 114% with current setup and i dont have griffons and i dont want to switch out maras or sojs for a fcr ring:P). So I know a good breakpoint for cold-fire (non inferno sorcs) is 105.. and i can get that with my equip... so here it goes ill list the equip first then the 2 builds i am debating on..

Shako
Hoto
Spirit
CoH
War Travs
Magefists
Maras
Sojs (2x)
Arachs
sTorch

with this setup I will have 17 to all skills 18 to all fire..

Skillset for Build 1:
Fireball 20
Meteor 20
Fire Master 1-20

Ice Blast 20 (i think this is what its called, blizzard synergy)
Blizzard 20
Cold Mastery 1

Skillset for Build 2:
Firebolt 20
Fireball 20
Meteor 20
Fire Mastery 1-20

Frozen Orb 20
Cold Mastery 1

The reason for only 1 pt in CM is it will be around level 19 with +skills and with infinity *i think* that any more is pretty useless-correct me if I'm wrong. Now the debate whether to go FO/IceBlast or FireBolt route? I will of course have 1 pt in static and teleport. Also with this setup will I run into monsters that are immune to both cold and fire that i cannot break with infinity? I know in hell baal runs there are both fire immunes that cannot be broken with infinity and cold immunes that cannot be broken but my question to you is there both? I've played my lightning sorc for a while and have yet to find a lightning immune that can't be broken by infinity.. just want to know what im getting into before i invest the time in building this sorc...

any suggestions, criticism are welcome

thanks

Build 1 is a Blizzball and Build 2 is a Meteorb. Both are great; choose the one whose spells you like the most.

In order of monsters' overstacked resistances, it goes from lowest to highest; LI --> FI --> CI. That is why the Infinity runeword breaks LIs so easily and almost never breaks CIs. FI is in-between; it will break some, and not others.

There will be dual FI/CI uniques in Hell. Chances are that Infinity will not break the CI, and the FI will rarely be broken either. Not a problem, since they are rather rare and your merc will kill them with ease.

With that setup I'd probably go with Build 2. If you could somehow get your hands on a decent Fathom while still hitting 105%FCR, I'd probably go with Build 1 since the enhanced cold damage will send your Blizzard dmg through the roof.

I'm LOVING the meteorb right now, so I'd definately say #2.
